Blanket speed restriction? 08/12/2011 at 20:16 #24743

Because of the weather today, NR imposed a blanket speed restriction of 50mph over parts (all?) of Scotland (although, I'm not sure it was always adhered to by some drivers!)

This got me thinking - could something similar be added as a disruption/failure feature in F11?

You can already apply speed restrictions to individual Track Circuits via F11. I have some doubts that the speed limits would be over all of Scotland, which is why I think the way F11 implements it right now is appropriate as you can specify the speed limits as appropriate. However, I am also aware that some simulations feature the bad weather scenario or option, so this just needs continuing across other simulations as it is, or perhaps another scenario added limiting all trains to 50mph, if appropriate.
Any views and / or opinions expressed by myself are from me personally and do not represent those of any company I either work for or am a consultant for.

While 'bad weather' is an option, it doesn't go as far as impose TSRs as a result of 'serious' weather. Also, I'm aware of course that TSRs can be applied to individual track circuits, it might be more suitable to have the facility to apply a TSR to all circuits (save having to do all of them individually, if you were wishing to impose a TSR for the whole sim area)

NR also enforces them on routes with OHLE when it gets a touch breezy.
