Of course, in real life, some more important calls would have to be recorded in the Train Register anyway.

If you check out the Shortcut keys page in the Wiki you will find that N, F, S and Numeric Keypad +/- are also listed as hotkeys..
The keys I quoted are the only keys in use in the latest sim EUSTON.

N certainly works in Euston; I haven't checked the rest, but since they are all in the core code, not sim-specific data, I would be extremely surprised if they don't all work.

Once they see a need to improve a feature, it usually gets done, thank god. I don't think I'm pushing my own barrow unduly when suggesting these improvements; I like to let them speak for themselves.
As I've said before, I'm always happy to see suggestions, though I may not agree that they're the right thing to do.

In particular, I'm always happy to see Max make suggestions.

that's not the issue I referred to, which is lack of confirmation when making changes outside the Options window, i.e., within the View window. I think you missed my point here.
It's certainly something for Geoff and I to think about.

Argh, no. We hates that, precious, we hates it. You end up clicking on a box on the message just as it disappears, and your click does something you didn't intend as a result.

Pause mode works fine in Euston.

Glad to hear it. Haven't been game to tackle it yet.
Pity: I added something to it just for you.

On the other hand, my responses (which I do not need to save) are automatically displayed in the Messages box. Is there any reason for this or would it be a valid feature request to ask that both be displayed in the Messages box?

E.g., Scrolling down the Messages box, one would see:
[Train ID] waiting at signal 670
Response to [Train ID]: Wait 5 minutes before phoning back

Added to the wish list for further thought.

Although handy to have, there are two problems with the Train List:
1) It's impossible to sort it by date of status message, which is the way the Messages window displays them. This should be an option, set by clicking the column header.
What "date of status message"?

I always narrow the window to cut this stuff out, but it keeps springing back to its full size each time I reopen it* (yes, I also minimize it or drag it so its bottom is offscreen, each wasting time). A window that big needs to remember its last size, which this one clearly doesn't. Should be set and forget.

(added) *after closing, not minimising, it.

(added) Even better, offer the user a choice as to which columns should be displayed here.
The latter of these added to the wish list. If I recall correctly, the box resizes itself horizontally as the information in it changes, so there's no point in resizing or saving its width.

N.B. this does not mean that any of these features will be added.

I am not a fan of popup messages - perhaps a line in the message box "SPEED = 1:1" or something similar would be better?

Not necessarily so. I run with some default pop-ups disabled and with other messages set to show a pop-up which other users do not want. Anyone who has used my computer at a meet has had to change the pop-up settings due to frustration with the way that I want to receive information. There are probably users who want to run with no pop-ups at all.

Reason: Removal of excessive pomposity and drivel

For comparison, I don't use any pop-up messages at all, but instead have used the colour options for messages with some sounds for the important things, eg telephone calls; hence I get both aural and visual cues for the important things.

Clive, you have got me intrigued. I cannot get N to work any ways.

Just checked: F and N definitely work.

Clive, I'm lost. What needs to be happening to use these keys?

I noticed that the Simsig Task Bar does not respond to key strokes for the underlined letters.

I think the only visible thing for F is that the clock speeds up for a while. To see the effect of N set the sim speed high via f3 option, close that, press N and go back to the f3 option- the speed should be back at 1:1.
