Port forwarding setup 14/01/2012 at 12:05 #27265

Hi all,

Is there anybody that could advise and help me on how to set up the port forwarding in order to set up for hosting multiplayer sessions? I have tried reading the "wiki" on how to do it, but it is quite confusing for me. I'm not the most computer friendly person!

If anybody could spare some time to help me, I would be very grateful.

Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Callum

Enter the router setup by entering http://192.168.1.254 in the browser address line, and login ,default user is "Administrator" and password is the serial number of your router.

There are 2 steps to the port forwarding, 1) setting up the ports 2) allocating those ports to your PC.

1) Go to Toolbox/Game & Application Sharing/New Game or Application, enter SimSig as a new name and tick manual entry of ports.
On the next page enter port range 50505 to 50507, translate to 50505 and add.

You should end up with this in the list of games

2) Return to the Game & Apllication Sharing page, at the bottom select SimSig from the list under 'Game or Application', select your PC from 'Device' and click ADD.

Your PC should now be shown as assigned to SimSig, and it should all work OK.

oops, typo, the translate should have been 50505, you should be able to edit it though, or else delte and readd

Depends on the router setup....Out of the box its likely to be 192.168.1.1 but its easy to change that.

GUIDOMCC....Open a command prompt window and type IPCONFIG and hit enter. This lists details of you PC's network setup. Look for a field called "Default Gateway". The IP address it lists is more than likely the IP address of your router. Open you preferred browser and type in that IP address in the address bar. That should bring up your router page but be warned, its likely to be password protected so you'll need to user name and password for it to gain full access

Have you disabled java script on your browsers? Sometimes done as a security measure, that may prevent proper display

Sorry I worded that badly...I was asking if javascript was disabled. If it is disabled then re-enable it
