Does anyone else get delayed starts at Temple Meads platform 7 in Modern Mode?
Most of the time, regardless of whether you route before TRTS or not and wherever you send the departing train, it leaves two minutes behind the timetable. It does not matter whether it arrived early, on time, late or was assembled in situ. It happens on all the different modern timetables I have tried and with different scenarios. I have just completed Bristol Metro with scenario P5&6 closed and, strangely, the delayed starts seemed to clear up after about 2200, it certainly startled me when I had a TRTS just before the clock ticked round to the timetabled departure time.
I am currently running the 1980's for comaprison and the trains are leaving P7 on time.

Hello,

This seems to be present on a few sims. Gloucester in particular can be bad for it and also the REC 1 line on the Southampton sim. I have no idea what causes it but there are a few places in several sims where it happens on a regular basis. I posted about it after encountering this issue on the Southampton 2009 timetable. If you scroll down to my post in that thread you will see that the timetable creator could not resolve it and the final solution was to manually step up the timetables at those points to avoid every train being consistently two minutes late:

Thank you for your response, James.
I have not run any Southampton timetables and only tried Gloucester once, so I had not realised it was happening on others. If it is not too busy I may try manually kicking the train out of its berth.

Lawndart, I am currently writing a 2011 Bristol TT so will keep my eyes peeled for any such incidents on late running ex platform 7 during a TT test in due course.

Could it be the possibility that the timetable in question needs a cleanse? Just an idea.

@ Paul,
Glad to hear there are more timetables in the pipeline. I find Bristol an excellent single player layout, not too busy most of the time, and some of the modern timetables develop a good rhythm. It also gives my mouse wheel a good workout.

@UKTM,
I'm not sure how to cleanse. The analysis tool gives 0 errors, 19 warnings for Greater Bristol Metro 2.61, all of which are not BTM related. I have spotted the platform 7 delays on all the modern era timetables I have tried. The only modern one I have not run all the way through 24 hours is the Bristol Epicness, which is clearly for multiplayer; 30+ trains on the screen at 00:34 at which point I gave up as more were arriving.
I going to try the 1922 timetable next and see whether the problem occurs in that.

Right, I have just finished the 24 hour 1985 timetable. I prodded the random scenario button and it turned out to be the Delays in West Country. It was busy - I think nearly every 50% chance freight train ran and they were queuing up to get into Plining down goods!
Platform 7 behaved itself throughout; it is not used too often in this timetable and was sending the trains off at the scheduled time every time.
It turns out the 1922 timetable was created using the Modern layout as the 1985 one can't reverse at Avonmouth, so there is only the one 1980s based timetable.

I'll try deliberately sending trains into 7 wrong platform in the 1980's layout and see if the issue mainfests itself, but my gut feeling is this is a Modern problem.

If you need someone to test it, I'd be happy to oblige...

Its in development at the moment Mr. B2010.

I have had it primarily tested and have to make some changes to some rather silly mistakes I have made. Also need to add some more freight schedules that have now become available. If you would like a copy, please PM me your email adress and I am sure I can rustle it up for you when its finished.

Merci
Paul
