Diversionary scenarios 28/01/2012 at 12:08 #28357

I recently joined a session where the route was closed between Ulceby North Jn and the refineries, thereby forcing all trains to be diverted via the Grimsby to Immingham Light Railway. A standard WTT was being used, which meant that to run trains via the Light Railway the WTTs had to be cancelled and restored at a later point.
This meant that a bit of licence had to be used at Humber Rd Jcn when trains for Immingham West Jcn (for HIT and the Bulk Terminal) had to travel onwards. In reality there is (or was) a maximum propelling limit of 40SLUs between Humber Rd Jcn and Immingham West Jcn. The coal trains are usually about 55-63 SLUs and the Ore trains about 52 SLUs thereby needing to be hauled. If a spare locomotive is available then this can top & tail the train locmotive, otherwise the train locomotive will have to perform a run-round (normally via the eastern curve at Lindsey OR).

Knowing what sticklers some of us simmers are for reality, could someone perhaps work on a WTT with this in mind?

Oh! And in a future update, could someone work on the Coal Import Terminal? People are still confused about its location. As someone who once worked this area I know it is Pad 1 and Pad 2 (near the Bulk Terminal.

I done the TT that comes with SH, but am upto my eyes with numerous other projects. You could of course do a TT yourself and share it with us... You could even use the default TT as a starting point.

The scenario issue is a thorny one. Whilst the original plan was to get the sim to do it, I now think the best option is for a special TT to be written instead.

As for the Coal Import Terminal, I am not sure what you mean by "work on". Can you describe the exact issue?

i was led to beleive pad 1 and pad 2 were the BSC import terminal (with ore pad as well) while the import terminal was essentially the export terminal with reversed action depending on era (can anyone list the date of closure for the export terminal).

so i dont see a problem with the current set up
