until dinnington colliery jcn and brancliffe east closed in 1997, the section between them was signalled by permissive block working, so in theory, in 80s mode both boxes starters should have call ons/warners (the real boxes didnt) to allow this to work. it wasnt uncommon to have four or five in section in the early 80s
