A goods train routed into Larbert DGL stops at LN56A part way into the loop, but this signal isn't displayed on the sim.

Is this a bug?

Workrounds F11...Pass next signal... or waiting for a phone call work.

You need to manually swing the point at the Plean JN end of the loop for the road you sent the train into.

I tried this to no effect. Points LNGF1 were already in the correct position. Locking them and LN57A had no effect.

If I set LN55 -> PJ22 then LN56A clears and I can put back LN55 before it's approach-released, but this requires the section ahead to be clear.

Peter,

Thanks for replying. I'm simply trying to put 6A65-B (300m, timetable Central Scotland Alloa August 2006) into Larbert DGL. After a couple of attempts, I read the train list carefully and saw that it was stopped at the invisible signal mentioned above. I could send you a saved game if you want.

Regards,
Graham

Graham,

I understand that, what I'm not clear about is what particular move you are attempting to make that's causing the difficulty.

Train arrives in loop and stops at stopboard (hidden signal). to get it to leave loop or indeed get loco to headshunt then make sure the points are correctly positioned and use the visible signal (55 I believe). Train should then move off.

You seem to have established that works but then you mention restoring 55 and that gave rise to the "what are you trying to do" question.

If the signals were visible then what would you do with them?

Peter,

Now I understand your question! There's not enough room for the train to go clear in rear of the invisible signal, and I don't want to send it into the headshunt. If the signal were visible I would set the points leading to signal 55 and clear 57A to allow the train to draw up to 55.

I suspected that might be the answer- in which case the train is too long. If it can't fit the loop then it should not be routed there. I think we started to put lengths on the Wiki but not sure if we finished.

Aargh! Thank you! I misread the loop length in the Wiki. With said signal clear, the train of 300m fits nicely, but since the published length is 215m it's understandable that things don't work as expected.

May I ask why the invisible signal is there?

It replicates the stop bored that is at the end of each loop road.

Yes, without them the train would foul the points and you'd not be able to use both loops.
