Hello,

Sometime ago we decided to take a cycle up to Staverton (Trowbridge, Wiltshire) where Bradford Junction is and dig out Walden's Crossing. It's in the Westbury Sim and I believe takes phone calls there too but never seen it in real life on the countless trains I've been on over it. We took a fair bit of time finding it but in the end we ended up in the new housing estate, which had a gate but was fenced off. We couldn't find any other sign of where it would be so I assume it is closed now but if it is, I wonder how long it's been closed for, can't be long if it's in the simulation but I am wondering if it shut when the housing estate was erected?

It is entirely probable that such is the case. NR may have thought that for safety's sake with a new housing estate development being built, the best course of action would be to close the crossing.

Crossing doesn't show in the last public update of the Sectional Appendix showing the supposed status as at 1st. April 2009. The actual page sans crossing is annotated "Last Updated 05/08/06".

Accommodation crossings were provided for farmers use (only) where their land was split by the railway. If the land on one site of a crossing passes into different ownership (housing developer) then the right to use the crossing lapses as it is no longer necessary and the crossing closes. All crossings have some legal basis and Network Rail can't just close then without going through some legal process.
