[sup]I hope this is the right section to post this but if not please move it to the correct section and just let me know if possible.[/sup]

I thought it might be interesting to have a thread on when you've used SimSig for reference etc. For example, if you're reporting some kind of fault or something to Network Rail. I seem to remember reading a post on the old forum (before I registered) where someone used SimSig to help identify a location to assist Network Rail / BTP in dealing with some trespassers or something like that. I've actually been inspired to start this thread by a recent situation where I myself used one of the SimSig simulations to assist with identifying a certain location. I'll detail this below;

I was on my way into KingsX on the train and we were slowly approaching signal K292 although unlike what normally happens we didn't actually stop this time. Instead we sort of crawled passed it and into Gasworks Tunnel at perhaps 10mph or 15mph. Normally the train I'm on would stop briefly at signal K292 to wait for a platform and whilst waiting you'd normally hear a bell start to go off at the exit from Gasworks Tunnel (Down Slow / Line D) to warn anyone in the area (trackworkers, etc) that a train is about to appear out of that tunnel exit (the white lamp also turns off). On this occasion, I still heard the bell as normal however unlike the usual continuous ringing sound I'm so used to hearing it was intermittent which suggested something wrong with it.

Anyway when I returned home I phoned Network Rail and reported that I believe the warning bell to be faulty and with the thanks to SimSig I was able to provide enough information for them that they should be able to locate where the problem I reported is.

I'm wondering if others have any stories like this that they would be able to share with everyone else?

Cheers,
UKTrainMan.
