Hi all,

Recently i came across this after watching a program about network southeast (the program was from the 90's) and seeing the signal boxes, and the panel layout, so i googled if there was anything of the sorts available, as i was curious as to how they worked, and i found this! B) So far i've only been playing for a couple of days, but i'm hooked on it!

I'm still making newbie mistakes, such as not reading the entire timetable, and putting suburban services in front of a fast service, but hopefully i'll get the hang of it! :)

I'm hoping to come across a multiplayer server whilst its online, see if its any better playing the game with others, and hopefully i wont mess it up too badly!

If anyone has any map reccomendations, i'd certainly be interested, i tried royston but found it too simple, currently i'm trying to get my head around the southampton map :)

Many thanks

Southampton is an excellent one to start with, theres a nice variety of passenger and freight.

Exeter is a bit of a larger step, but I have written a very simple timetable that simulates the real closures that happened on the 20th November 2011. Its very good for a beginner to Simsig, so I would recommend that.

Welcome to Simsig!
If you're playing Southampton, I'd recommend having a look at this thread. Makes it a bit more fun. Or you could say chaotic.

Welcome Meyshollop
I agree, Southampton is a good single player sim but with plenty to watch out for. Exeter is also brill to keep you on your toes. Enjoy Simsig.

Meyshollop,

Welcome to SimSig. There are lots of different areas, each with their own challenges. Some are larger and for the more experienced some are smaller. I particular like (and in fact started with) Stafford. Big enough to be challenging but small enough to be usable by one person but its by no means the only one.

Either way, the key to running a sim successfully is to learn the area by knowing where the entry points, exit points and general locations are. This helps enormously and as your experience grows you'll find the larger sims such as Kings Cross can be handled on your own (once you know the area). Of course this comes from playing the same sim over and over again.

The other thing to remember is that its highly unlikely you will ever score 100%, particularly if you have any sort of failures or delays turned on. The randomness of the failures also means each session on a particular sim will be different. Your goal is simply to score as high a mark as possible and enjoy the frustration of dealing with things like a slip crossing in the throat at Kings Cross failing in the morning peak!

Enjoy..
