Good afternoon

I am currently working on a 1990 Bristol timetable, but when it comes to the freight, I am none the wiser with what worked what, and what was being hauled. Is anyone able to help?

Thanks

Paul

And then i might hazard a guess that the first engine would go for fuel and then work some different wagons

Sorry Paul I just had to say it

Paul, that's not too difficult to sort out. Allfreightliners between the Western Region(Pengam FLT) to London area(Ripple Lane FLT, Stratford FLT & Tilbury RCT) were Cl.47 hauled. Similarly all freightliners from the London Midland Region to the Western Region were also booked for Cl.47s. Pairs of Cl.37s were only diagrammed on freightliners from Felixstowe & one from Ripple Lane to Willesden where an electric would take over the turn. Pairs of Cl.37s from Anglia tended to work as far as Willesden unless they were diverted via Peterboro, ECML & Diggle. All major trunk Speedlink service into & out of the Western Region were booked Cl.47s. Stone trains from ARC's railhead at Tythherington were in the hands of Bristol Bath Road Cl.56s outbased from Westbury. Speedlink coal services between Pantyffnnon - Exmouth Jn - Pantyffynnon wer worked by Cl.37/0withy axle HEA wagons. Speedlink trunk services between Cornwall & Exeter St. Davids Riverside yard to East Usk or Severn Tunnel Jn were Cl.47 hauled. The Immingham - Hallen Marsh - Immingham COY with 2 axle VDA wagons was Cl.47 hauled. Oil trains from South Wales(Robeston) to Langley were hauled by Cardiff Canton based Cl.56s before they were replaced by Cl.60s. Spoil trains between Stoke Gifford yard & Bristol East Depot would be worked by anything from Cl.31s to Cl.50s. There were 2 Cl.08 pilots shunting around the Hallen Marsh/Avonmouth complex of sidings & terminals.
Coke traffic from Margam to Commonwealth Smelting Sdgs at Hallen Marsh were conveyed in HTVs & could be worked by Cardiff based Cl.37/9s. The Avon binliner from Westerleigh or BathWestmoreland to Calvert was booked for Cl.47s to work this train.6Z23 Tunstead to Margam Limestone train was worked By Cl.37/0s throughout. All MGR coal workings were haukled by Cl.56s out based from Cardiff Canton. The steel sector trains from Shotton - Llanwern were worked by Cl.37/0s. Robeston - Colnbrook oil trains conveying aviation fuel for Heathrow airport were in the hands of pairs of Cl.37/0s. The fow of liquid petroleum gas from Furzebrook - Avonmouth such as 6V13 was worked by trainload petroleum Cl.47/0s until Cl.60s came online & replaced them. 6Z15 was a new flow of methanol conveyed in 2 axle tank wagons from Haverton Hill - Barry Dow Chemicals worked by a Thornaby based Cl.47/3 which ran via Bromsgrove & Westerleigh. Bristol - Coatbridge was booked to be worked by a Cl.47/2 as the Baglan Bay - Doncaster Belmont speedlink.
All mail trains in the Bristol area were in the hands of Cl.47/4s outbased from Crewe Diesel. Inter-City cross country loco hauled services comprise of 7 coach sets hauled by Inter-City Cl.47/8s. Cross Country HSTs were 7xMk.3 coaches plus 2 power cars, but most of the Inter-City 125 services to & from London Paddington were 8xMk.3 coaches plus 2 power cars. Hope this help Paul. Any further info please ask me by referring to individual train headcode & I'll look through my loco diagrams for the early 1990s for details.

58050, I have created an Excel spreadsheet, would be it be OK for me to send you a copy of what I have across to have a look through and comment on accordingly?
Thanks for the plethora of information you have provided though, most useful indeed!

Driver Curran, thanks very much, I almost worked that out, lol
