No Calls from PC2 11/04/2012 at 23:46 #31509

Hi All,

I just wanted to ask a quick question about PC2 at Edinburgh Waverley station. I accidentally left a train sitting in there for an hour beyond its scheduled departure time (I had a sticky note to remind me, but forgot to actually read it ). When I realised my mistake, I also realised that I had not received a phone call from the driver to tell me that he was waiting for clearance to depart. Is this normal?

Additional info: the train list pane simply states that it is 'waiting for right-away at Edinburgh Waverley', I have ARS off (ACI is on, though) and the train in question was 5Z02 in the August 2006 (v1.3) timetable.

Cheers.

The lack of phone calls is a known issue, the cure being worse than the disease at present.

More precise 'waiting at.....' will be a future improvement.

There isn't any ARS on the sidings, and you need to swing the internal points (PC1/PC2) manually and then clear the signal that is common to the two.

the reason that you wouldn't of got a phonecall is that the set of points that is at the end of PC1 and PC2 are manual points, which have to be swung by clicking on them, and the signal is after the points. this means that is a train doesn't have the points swung for him, he will continue waiting for the points to be swung before he will phone in at the signal aswaiting at red. Hope that makes sense

I believe I tried this whilst I was testing this issue overnight and even with the points manually swung for PC2 there was no phone call.

You don't get a call as I've inhibited it in those places, this is because infact there is a hidden set of signals and the phonecall would be from them so you would get a call from train standing at signal PC2 (or whatever). Since then the ablity to rename signals has been added so I can change PC2 to ": Edinburgh PC2" which gives a more meaningful report. I did consider changing it to the main visible signal but then you would not necessarily know which platform the call was from.

I noticed this too. The points were left in the same position as when I first routed the train into PC2. Couldn't word it right earlier so I gave up (twice)! Thanks for taking the time to try it out yourself too!

Thanks all for your replies, it's much appreciated. Thanks for clarifying, Peter; that makes sense.

Thanks for the thanks Gwasanaethau, actually had a few difficulties whilst trying it out but your thanks has made it all that much worthwhile.
