Hi all, having a break from NLL and decided to have a look at Cambridge. I know the area between Cambridge/Ely/King's Lynn from my RAF days. The screens seem easy to link up. Made a booboo with first train, changed aspect in front of loco so exited to try again, won't make that mistake again now I now abou auto-detach of loco. Another brill sim which I will settle into, although of course I may be back with the odd query regarding any items which I'm not sure of. I'll check on here first though as it looks like some may have been answered by the vast knowledge on the forum. Just a point - I notice the debate between paged and scrolly sims. Hi Mal Yes, Cambridge is my favourite - it manages to stretch my brain without breaking it! Just running the 1970s timetable at the moment (for the umpteenth time - I keep returning to it) - lots of freight to deal with and loads of 30mph goods trains threatening to delay the expresses. Hi Mike, my thoughts exactly. Although I managed to jump the gun on the first train which uncouples and runs round in Ely yard. I gave an adverse aspect (oops!). Promptly exited and will take another run at it, lol! Another brill sim though, I needed a break from NLL as it's getting busy on the t/t I'm using, Trying to sort the freights from the units, that's the headache bit. Cheers, Mal. Log in to reply |

Thanks for that Clive, it certainly seems easy to follow the screens as I prefer paged sims. I know the Ely and Cambridge area well from my Forces days, the times I've spent sat on both stations, but that's another story. I'd just say that overall the sims are so detailed and it's mind-boggling as to where you would start on writing them. From my first bash at Simsig over a year ago I've come back with a fresh look and am really getting engrossed. Cheers, Mal.

Further to my earlier posts, I'm really getting into Cambridge. For two main reasons. First, as it features through stations it has a great 'open' feel to it, as opposed to NLL which feels rather cramped. Don't know how else to explain it but both sims present their own challenges. Second, as there are long stretches of automatic routing it gives you more chance to attend to station control. Anyway, that's as I see it at the moment having had no real operating problems.
