Found this interesting film on youtube you wouldn't think it would take that long to derail the train!

Seems like hard work. Ideally, they needed to make the trailing end go "wide to gauge". That should do it!

Think it would be more certain if the facing rail was narrow to gauge so forcing the train to one side.
