Guidance wanted please I have picked 6E54 as an example. It is 11:44 out of Kinsbury Branch Jcn to Wichnor Jcn. I take it that that it enters Tamworth HL engine first and would be routed to sig LOS52 at this point surely the engine would be required to run round to go onto Winchnor Jcn as you would not normally run freight with the engine at the back. There is nothing in the timetable to indicate this. My thoughts would be to send it to Washwood Heath and run round there. Am I missing something or have I got this wrong?? I am using Satley 15-10-2009 v3.3 with the midnight start. Log in to reply |

Not sure what the reference to the train entering Tamworth HL is in aid of. 6E54 and other similar movements will propel out of the branch connection at Kingsbury (only a relatively short shunt move) towards LOS2, as you suggest, in order to get behind SY387 signal and depart (loco leading!) for Wichnor Junction and beyond.

Thanks for the quick response. So the trains out of Kingbury to wichnor jcn reverse out to LOS52 then wait for sig 387 to be pulled off. That makes sense my little grey cells do stop working at times

Something to watch out for with this move is that the timetables sometimes do not distinguish between Kingsbury Junction and Kingsbury Branch Junction, so if you route a train towards LOS2 (Limit Of Shunt), the program is sometimes tricked into thinking that although the train has reversed out and is standing (correctly) in rear of SY387, it still needs to reverse over Kingsbury Junction before it will move towards Tamworth. You can tell if this is going to happen by checking the timetable of any up train out of Kingsbury yard, and looking for Kingsbury Junction. If the timetable shows Kingsbury Junction, rather than Kingsbury Branch Junction, the train will sit on the UP Derby line thinking it needs to move in a DOWN direction (i.e. towards Whitacre Junction or Water Orton) until it has crossed Kingsbury Junction. This is not correct, as there is no provision in the signalling for it to do so, either in the sim, or in real life. If you do have this problem, you will need to edit the next location on the timetable, by going to the location list of the affected train and editing the next location so that it is Wichnor Junction, rather than Kingsbury Junction.
