I don't think that this has been mentioned in respect of Saltley before, (it was previously identified on the Edale route from Sheffield) but I have on a couple of occasions also had this issue on trains approaching from Bromsgrove. On Saltley it manifests as a faster train (e.g. class 1) gets held on the Lickey behind a slow moving train (e.g. class 7) with bad weather scenario on then when the line clears it cannot accelerate up the bank and crawls up at 2mph. The following train then also gets held, and the process repeats. The only way to get things moving again is 'hand of God' extreme measures!

This is a known about core code issue relating to steep gradients and bad weather, but I don't think it has been mentioned before in the context of Saltley.

I don't think that's a bug- it's just the Lickey Incline with greasy rails!
