It's those ghost trains again. Who would want to go to Ellesmere Port anyway

I must round to do the Ellesmere Port parly at some point. Shame it doesn't see a better service really, it's a bit of a pain to get from Ellesmere Port towards Manchester otherwise.

If you plan to do the Wandsworth Road to Kensington Olympia 'parly' you'll have to hurry as DaFT are proposing to close the service pending the introduction of the next bit of London Overground into Clapham Junction from Surrey Quays.

I've actually done that one, there was myself and one other person on the train.

The fam and I got on a train at Falls of Cruachan a couple of years ago, the conductor said we were the first people to use it that year. Driver was braking quite hard to stop, and only just managed it by the end of the platform. I think he was gambling (on odds that were in his favour, to be fair) that there wouldn't be anybody there. Great view from the station, lovely area too

i'm hoping to do 2 out of 3 ghost services Southern provide.
Kenny O to Wandsworth Road and Streatham Hill to London Bridge.

Reading the DfT consultation on the West London Route, I've noticed that London Overground could technically run a Willesden Juncton to Highbury and Islington service via the South London Route avoiding Clapham Junction.

Just been looking at the December to May WTT,s and I notice that Teesside Airport (or should that be Tees-side Airport) has again only got one service a week in both directions and that being on a Sunday. One has got wonder if it really is worth stopping a train there considering: - statistics show there was less than 30 people used it las year, it,s a 15 minute walk to the airport and since 2004 the airport has been called Durham Tees Valley. Yes you can catch a bus from the station to the airport building but I believe there is no guarantee it turns up to get you there quicker than walking. I know it is not good to advocate closing stations but is it really worth the trouble of keeping it open and would it really be missed if it was closed. Surely the maintenance cost alone must be a bit of a saving and could be used else where?

Lots of people would call that closure by stealth. If you only provide one train a week, not many people are going to use it! If, however, an hourly service was provided on a trial basis, it would give a better indication whether the station was worth keeping. It's quite odd that Teeside Airport is in this postion, given that most Airport stations are working close to capacity.

Chicken and egg, isn't it. People don't use the station to get to the airport because there isn't a viable service. All of the local authorities in the area would support a better service (for example see the Wikipedia page on a Tees Valley Metro proposal. It is a bit of a nonsense when you are virtually forced to use private car or taxi to get to an airport which the local authorities are desperately trying to develop. The nearest service bus is 9 minute walk from the terminal which is only sensible if you have travelled Ryanair so crammed everything into your hand baggage.
