Hi All,

I'm from sunny old Kent where we are lucky enough to have a brand new, state of the art Network Rail training centre. It is located in Paddock Wood which is about 50 minutes on a train from Charing Cross (depending on stopping/non-stop). I have been to numerous events there, some work reacted, other not, and the manager is a lovely man who I'm sure would allow us to have a meet there. He would also give you a guided tour and you may even be able to try out some actual IECC and push lever signalling controls. They are also very happy to accommodate on the weekends and provide a lunch bag (probably with a small extra cost) - it is about a 2 minute walk from Paddock Wood station.

If an administrator would like the contact details for my contact at the training centre I will be happy to share them, and I'm sure he would be happy with me sharing them.

Many thanks, feedback appreciated,

Josh

New suggestions are always welcome, though can you confirm that as this is a NR site whether the no-alcohol rules apply. I suspect that will be of primary importance to many of the regulars.

As it's a Network Rail site, then it would be the usual rule apply. No one under the influence of alcohol, drugs or anything else.

Even as a guest, there is always the possibility of the good old Medical Screening!

Well yes, that could be an issue - I think we may be able to get away with it - the manager is a nice man, and it is not officially open for training at weekend. If we have any NR employees that could shed any light on this?

If we are talking "Meet" rather than "Visit" then the criteria for a suitable location are laid out by AndyG here on the Forum.

However, for a "Visit" it looks like a good place.

I could try and ask him if it could be a visit for a smaller group of people, he may be able to arrange some actual IECC training/taster sessions.

It would definitely be better if you established exactly what is or is not possible and then come back, probably direct to Geoff or one of the admin team, so we can evaluate the options.

All Network Rail training schools are subject to the Drugs and Alcohol rules.

The John Brunt V.C. pub is about 250 yards away, so you could visit the centre "dry" and then regroup.
Might be a bit eccentric geographically for a meet perhaps.

It sounds like a really good place to have a visit to, and if a decent pub is relatively close I would definitely give it a big thumbs up! :cheer: It's just a pity its down at the wrong end of the country for me, but I would make the journey if this was to happen.
