Hello all,

The final bug I need to wipe on my North London Line timetable is one I don't know how to fix.

The problem I noted is that 5Y98 (06+08 from Willesden HL) requires Kensal Green Turnback from 0610 - 0630.
5L99 (06+08 from Euston) wants Kensal Green Turnback from 0625 - 0638, a 5 minute overlap time on 5Y98. They both don't form the same train either as 5Y98 forms 2Y03 to Clapham and 5L99 later forms 2N99 to Richmond.

Looking in Open Train Times at the time (I can't find it now as the site has changed) but 5Y03 was listed as 'Willesden Junction HL Turnback' and 5L99 was listed as 'Kensal Green Turnback'
So obviously there are two different reverse points in place, so I thought maybe 5Y03 reverses at shunt signal HL2101 (below Kensal Green Turnback) but the problem is, the 0609 Richmond - Stratford leaves Willesden HL at 0625, 5Y03 leaves at 0630. I can't find anywhere else where 5Y03 can reverse?

Does anyone know what happens, and if 5Y03 does reverse at HL2101 but just there is a timing clash error with 2N01?


Any help is appreciated as it is driving me mad! :lol:

Could this give a clue.

It seems to show a new turnback siding on the east side of Willesden HL; I don't know the area, maybe someone with knowledge can confirm/deny.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

As Andy points out, they installed a new turnback siding just outside Willesden Junction (high level) for the West London Line services to use. This came into force when they closed Willesden Jn High Level signal box and resignalled the line into Upminster.

As the Open Train Times map shows, the new siding is clear of the Kensal Green Junction pointwork, allowing for WLL reversals in tandem with freight or empties movement across Kensal Green Jn.

NB: If a train has come from Willesden TMD into Willesden Jn (low level), it still has to use the Kensal Green turnback siding to reverse to get towards high level, Clapham Jn or Richmond, as there is no access to the new Willesden Jn HL turnback siding from Willesden Jn (low level).

History: This "new" siding is between the East- and Westbound lines. Adrian the Rock's website shows the siding which used to be there some years ago before it was closed. http://www.roscalen.com/signals/London/NLL.htm#KensalGreenJct
I assume they have relaid this "new" turnback siding in a similar place to the closed turnback siding.

Thank you very much Andy and Matt!

Just one very minor thing that is very hard to work around on the SimSig layout, re-timing 5L99 wouldn't make it a real TT, leaving it 'as is' adds a bit of fun for the morning shift, as me and Andy found out in testing!
