Q13. I know you have mentioned CROSS but there is another station to add that has CROSS in it.

CROSS Gates. (Station after Leeds on the York Line). There is also CROSSflatts on the Airedale Line. (Stop between Bingley and Keighley

SIGNALHUNTER - you should of known that. Lol

222 posts 		On a quick scan through I couldn't see many guesses for Q2, so I'll throw in
Hoveton and Wroxham change for Bure Valley Railway.
I reckon there must be some a fair bit longer, but 43 is a starting point.

I'm wondering what Birmingham International's full sign says - presumably with reference to the airport and NEC it must beat Wroxham.

Correct Hugh,

There are 7 Acton's

North Acton, South Acton, West Action, East Acton, Acton Central, Acton Town and Acton Main Line.

As one signalman at Liverpool St (Central) used to say, as he called every stop on the line: "...East Acton, North Acton, West Acton, there's a lot of Actons..." (He didn't use the PA either, he had a voice that resonated gorgeously in the station tunnel.)

2739 posts 		6: I'm going to claim a bonus point: there used to be a YORK road on the Underground.

8: Madrid line R (Principe Pio to Opera). Taipei has two: Beihou to Xinbeitou and Qizhang to Xiaobitan. Hong Kong has Sunny Bay to Disneyland. I'll also point out that both Paris and Barcelona have point-to-point funiculars that are included on the metro map as metro lines.

11: The furthest out termini of the Underground were Brill and Verney Junction. The Southend service that Kbarber mentions went to Shoeburyness. The District also once ran to Windsor. But I've also been on LU trains to Rugby (via Aylesbury and Bletchley), Portsmouth Harbour, and Dungeness via Fokestone.

13: Acton Main LINE.

21: is it Wick?

22: Limerick Junction was laid out so that a through train couldn't use any of the platforms without reversing.

124 miles Gillingham (Dorset & Kent);
42 miles Swinton (S Yorks & Manchester);
21 miles Rainham (Kent & Essex).

There are 3 stations sharing an identical name, 318 miles total distance between them. Any offers?

13: Salford CRESCENT. (I used to live practically next door to it!)

For 11 are we talking about the London Underground network or a London Underground train? If the latter, Shanklin's got my guess - but I suspect I'm dodging the question slightly.

Only Essex and Gwent ones currently listed by NR. Isle of wight has lost it.

I think the furthest two are Leigh-on-Sea & Southend Central (pre WW2)

If you catch a train on the Mühlkreisbahn (Linz-Urfahr - Aigen-Schlägl), you will stop at a rotten egg, as there is a station called Rottenegg!

Upper Tyndrum railway station is one of two railway stations serving the small village of Tyndrum in Scotland. It is on the Fort William route of the highly scenic West Highland Line.

If that is not allowed then I will try TRING in Herts

Berwick, East Sussex and Berwick Upon Tweed - around 400 miles.
