Hi all!

I've just completed the 2009 TT at 88% (surprised myself!) - my thanks to the developers of both the Sim and the timetable. It truly is a superb sim, and the timetable seems accurate.

Unfortunately I don't have the specific trains to hand as I didn't save the sim at the relevant time, but a couple of issues from the timetable are outstanding:

A train that is scheduled to recess at Eden Vale late on the sim is listed as being 550m long. Despite this, it still fouls the rear track circuit, blocking the main line.

There are also a couple of instances where two trains enter from the S&C at the same time, with the same headcode suffixed by -0 and -1. I assume these are meant to be mutually exclusive. I'm really sorry I can't remember the headcodes to the trains in question - I'm sure this stops you from being able to find the issues in question!

I'm about to try the 79-80 timetable. I've opened the sim and looked through the timetable, and hten closed it again quickly! 1000+ trains! :O

This is wonderful. I could use it all day!

Got to agree, absolutely cracking SIM. Have just completed the 79-80 timetable at 76%, it certainly keeps you on your toes with all the shunts!

I am currently up to 06.30 on the 79/80 TT, and to this point I have set ten wrong routes, had six routes cancelled with trains approaching, removed two trains, and abandoned one joining move.

At one point I had almost 50 trains in the sim at once, and it was chaos. I'm down to 26 trains now, with everything wanting to go into and come out of Upperby Yard. Great fun!

Got to say good score for that timetable.

50 trains!

I'm in the 0200 area at the minute - 6L12 causing a few issues. It seems to struggle to reach any decent speed which is wreaking havoc. I've recessed it at Grayrigg and I'm just going to leave it until I've nothing coming through from Carlisle. Tut.

The more times you play it you will learn how to deal with various trains. 6L12 is a class 40 hauling loaded ballast wagons to Carnforth. The train has a maximum speed of 50mph. The speed it runs at up Shap isn't far off what the real train would do. Here's a few tips on running this train from Carlisle. When it comes out of Kingmoor Yard, usually the 3rd train out, the 2 in front being 6E86 & 6E84. Run 6L12 through to Upperby. Once 1M13 & 1M11 have departed Carlisle run 6L12 directly behind the 2nd class 1, which should be 1M11, but 6L12 MUST go inside at Plumpton. Then you wait for 1M10 & 1M16 to depart Carlisle & once 1M16 passes Plumpton loop send 6L12 out immeadiately behind it. Keep 6L12 going & subject to how 5J41, 5K30WFO & 4M49 are running you either put 6L12 inside at Shap loop for those 3 trains to pass or if you think there is enough headway keep 6L12 going. 6L12 won't get to its maximum speed of 50mph until it has passed Shap Summit. I hope this helps.

Thanks for that. I will bear that in mind. But right now just made the cardinal sin of not putting a Penrith parcels train into 3. *facepalm*

What I will say for Carlisle is that I always thought the correct platform element was quite simple in other sims (except for the terminii ones), but this one really causes a headache - and if you get it wrong, even in the 2009 timetable, you're likely to have to make big allowances to put it right. And now I'm paying the price!

Going well though. 95% at this stage... I fear that getting 95% in the first three hours isn't the challenging part of the timetable though!

I've made that mistake on a number of occasions & the first I know about it is when the driver of 1S19 is on the phone standing at a red with 3 other trains stuck behind him. If you do make a mistake on the 1979-1980 timetable there is little chance of a 'get out of jail' free card in that timetable. Best advice is to click on the TDs of all the trains & make a mental note of where they are booked to go, even if they are running early or late. If you are playing a weekday other than a Monday it is certainly going to get buisier before 0600 by a big way.

Monday is a little less busy between 0000 - 0600. It's the best day to start with for this timetable. The rest of the week its alot more intense.

There is also one train less into Upperby when they are queueing up to get out between 06:00 and 07:00 so it makes it a bit easier there as well.
