WTTs are wonderful places for finding amusing errors - SVR signalmen have great fun pointing this out when we spot a train that's meant to enter a section before the one in front is due to leave the section!

It's more amusing when trains are booked to cross each other in the middle of a block section

We also had a fun "we'll be taking stock out of Arley to store at Highley", only for me to then point out that both headshunts at Highley were already full...

this reminds me of the ATW timetable for Blaenau - Llan, where one service arrives at Blaenau about 20 mins before it departs Llan (a typing error, but still funny)

As a tt writer and have a few tt's uploaded i have found that despite testing some errors do occur. As has been said the info comes from wtt's/swb's etc these books also contain errors and staff has to work round them. If SimSig is supposed to be realistic then there will be errors too

Chris
Chris I quite agree that issued WTT's and Station Working books do contain errors and can cause a few problems for the operating staff when first issued. But they don't allow the situation to run for the full term of the WTT and issue revisions/addendums to rectify the problem. Which is exactly the point I am trying to make. Do we just put up with some of the problems or do we do something about it?

They may be supplements issued i agree however i do not intend to reupload my tt's that i have done so far but will consider it for future tt's. Anyone can amend my tt's if they want to but please remember who wrote them in the first place

when preparing/testing a timetable, I like to leave in issues from the source documentation which arent show stoppers (these are removed/altered at the test stage). I do this to provide more of a challenge in the timetable, so the player has to identify the issues, plan a course of action and execute it (much as per the real world).

now if a player chooses to permanently alter the timetable file himself to correct these errors once identified, thats fine, however I wouldnt then want a corrected TT uploaded onto the forum, as the whole point was to have workable errors left in. ( I dont mean missing rules etc, i mean things like platform clashes.)

I can't do anything immediately, but I'll try and rough out some sort of draft page for the Wiki later in the week unless anyone can do things any earlier. After all, it will give me something else to be jobsworth about when people post questions on the Forum.
Oops! Just remembered this which had fallen off the bottom of the To Do list, It's back on the list and will be done in the next few days.

Rather than set up a separate listing, I've added the information for CScot to the top of the manual in the Wiki.

Is this the right information and right place - or should the listing be separate? If it does stop in the Manual rather than as a separate page in the Wiki, should the information be at the head of the Manual or as a link from the Manual home page?

Thoughts?

As the wiki manuals for each sim vary in format from sim to sim, it would be difficult to set a standard.

It would probably be in the wider interest to standardise a format for all of the sims manuals, but this would be a mammoth task given the number of sims that would have to be changed.

massive agreement from me on this one. a standard template format would make finding/adding info so much easier. Happy to Help out aswell if needed

. Postal,Seeing as I raised the question in the first place it is only right that I respond. Personally looking at what you have done in the Wiki is exactly what I was looking for but others may disagree. I think after various people have responded to what I was suggesting with the timetables and updating them to get rid of mistakes is another thing though. From those that have responded, updating does not go down very well. Personally as I said a working timetable with faults in it would be sorted to get rid of them and make it workable which can be done I suppose by looking at the problems identified in the forum pagesIt just seems like a very long winded way to go about it though as is the case in some time tables. Thank you for what has been done to date.

Nearly every Manual now has a listing of sim versions and TTs at the top of the page. The information will have errors (anything manually input suffers in that respect) and will also be incorrect in places because I have not found the correct source information. If anyone spots an error and can correct it, then please put things right.

It would be helpful if anyone uploading a new TT in future could edit the appropriate Manual to add their TT to the list, if for no other reason than to ensure that they get due credit for their work!

I've updated a couple of bits with my stuff.

Thank you for sorting through all of that Postal, much appreciated.

I second the big thank you to Postal for all of the additional work he has done on this by adding all the available timetables to the user manuals. Just hope everyone who produces extra timetables can keep it all up to date from now on
