I'm just confused but what route am I supposed to take to get a train at signal 149 to continue onto Euston?

I can set a route from signal 146 easily enough but there doesn't seem to be a route between 149 and 146, am I doing something wrong?

To get from 149 to 146 after clicking the exit signal, so 146, you also need to click on the grey triangle just the other side of the points

Hope that helps

The thing you are doing wrong is not reading the Manual.

Part of this reads:

" Special signalling applies on the Up Slow and Up New Lines at Camden Junction. The overlap ahead of signals 146 and 147 is not selected automatically. Instead you must select it manually. This can be done in either of two ways:

When setting a route up to these signals, click on the appropriate overlap arrow after the exit signal. So to set a route from 149 to 146 with an overlap towards Primrose Hill, click on 149, 146, and then the arrow on the Primrose Hill route, in that order.
The overlap can be swung by clicking the exit signal and then the overlap arrow (e.g. the above overlap can be swung towards Euston by clicking on 146 and then the arrow on the other route).

Setting a route from 146 or 147 will automatically swing the overlap if necessary."

I seem to recollect that you posted a similar query about setting a route from P1 at Carlisle which was again covered in that sim's manual, so perhaps there is a learning point there for us all about RTFM.

You need to click on 149, then on 146, then on either of the grey exit buttons beyond 146 according to which way you need to set the overlap.

Explained in the Euston manual.

Thanks guys, it's just I find Euston to be one of the hardest sims I've ever encountered

I'm sure once I've actually spent time in a MP session on it, I be ok

Try it single player, 1980 TT with the Slow lines closed at Camden Junction. That's my preferred configuration at the moment.

I'm doing that as well in default Summer 2003 but in combination with three points 'stuck' in their default position.

Playing the first hour or two was interesting trying to understand how it worked (more interesting than taking the easy way of looking in the manual) but I got there in the end as I always do. The only thing was I ended up in negative territory till maybe 6am and lost one train trying to run it through the yard (thinking that was the only option - the UEC line is easy to miss if you don't know it's there). But I've learnt from the experiences and now at 35% and building with 94% running within 5 mins and under a hundred more points lost than recovered. Only up to around 7.30 now so plenty of time. And I've definitely been enjoying it.

But on the OP, when you click both signals, their respective dots (whatever you call them) both flash which means you gotta press something else before it'll set the route.

Nil.

It wasn't easy for the blokes who worked it either. So busy that on weekday day shifts an extra man had to be provided - no-one was allowed to do more than 4 hours continously on Station End. So halfway through the shift, the spare man would take over Camden End and the Camden man would take over Station End; the Station End man would then go spare for the rest of the shift.

I understand that system was brought in after some nervous breakdowns among the earliest signalmen appointed to the box.

It's the via buttons that do my nut in this particular sim, still fun though

Particularly as they replicate the original so not every apparent route is coded. It's either a lot of trial and error or RTFM when you first get started on the sim.

Thanks guys, I "think" I'm slowly getting the hang of Euston....

Saying that, can anyone tell me how do I set a route from the Up Slow from Willesden Jcn into Platform 12, I know it's very specific but I've got to just outside Euston but am puzzled how I'm supposed to get it into Platform 12 It being a ECS from Wembley to Euston to form 1S37, a VT 390 set.

I had to do a platform alteration to use Platform 7 instead but if anyone knows the answer I would be grateful

Up slow to 12 (or any higher number) doesn't need any via buttons, so just click on the signal then the arrow at the platform end. Up fast needs just via button N.

Again, the manual contains a complete table of the via buttons (not) needed for all routes.

Forgot the third option of posting a question and waiting for an answer
