I have a few friends in high places in Manchester.

If, and it is a very big if, I can arrange a visit to the Metrolink control centre would there be any interest?

I have not even started to talk to anyone, but a group of "signallers" might swing it.

Let me know.

George

Ideally that would tie in with some sort of SimSig meet so that people can get two for the price of one so to speak. Normally at a meet there is a meet/multiplay session/social event on a Saturday afternoon/evening and if possible some sort of visit on the Sunday morning. As examples, a couple of years ago Peterborough Box was visited and last year the Tyne & Wear Metro Control Room. Visits have also taken place on the back of other SimSig meets.

Tradition has it that we meet in London in July and Derby in November with a meet in March which takes place in a different part of the country each year. There is a provisional program on the Wiki which says we should go to Birmingham in March 2014 and Manchester in 2015. If it would be possible to hold off for 12 months, there is nothing to stop us going to Manchester in 2014 and Birmingham in 2015. It certainly looks an interesting idea even if it is decided not to wait for 12 months.

Let's keep the discussion going. As a new member I had no idea the meetings were so well organised. I applaud it.
For now, I will dip-a-toe-in-the-water with my contacts and do a bit of a research.
