Which is the best simulation for a single person to use and have a chance at reasonable achievement. e.g. KX is impossible and Wembley Sub is not quite enough. I await your suggestions please. It is better than downloading them all etc. etc.. Log in to reply |

There's Gloucester, Oxted and Lime Street, plus Peterborough and SwinDid and Waterloo have ARS so you wouldn't have to control the whole area.

I think of Exeter, Bristol, Westbury, and Cambridge (1980s TT) as a step less intensive than the "big" sims (KX, Saltley, CScot), and Southampton, Cambridge (2000s TT), and Peterborough as a step less intensive again.

Gloucester is probably the best intermediate Sim after you've had a go at the smaller ones to get an idea of what you're doing.

Its all about playing the sims and almost 'learning' the area, like a real signaller would have to do. Im sure that once you have a bit of practice of Kings Cross (perhaps on a multiplayer sim when you can explore the area a bit more), you'll get to the stage where it'll be easy! Just keep at it

Like Sam says - experiance, experiance, experiance. Certainly with a modern timetable once you know the pattern of the service you just look at the TDs and you know where they go (jut need to check platforms). In the download section there's a timetable called Kings Cross Winter Sat 2004 [Hertford Diversions] where practically everything goes via the loop - it's much easier to handle.

Another recommendation for Gloucester here, I find that manageable, but still engaging, the same goes for Westbury. I find Exeter easily managed, but that might be down to it being my local area. Carlisle can still be done single-handedly. It may be boring at times - when you speed it up, don't forget Floriston level crossing. If you clear it late (after the train passed the last green signal) for Scotland-bound trains, the signal will stay at red for a while. Brighton and Cowlairs are also fine as single player. North London Line is a bit busier, but can still be done quite well.

Peterborough is one of my favourites, and Cambridge as I know both areas. But as others have said, probably best to try a smallish sim and get the hang of it.

Being fairly new myself, I find that Sheffield offers a challenge, but not to the point where i can't keep on top of it, Euston is fun in solo mode if you turn on bad weather

i would say Westbury, it is one of my best sims to play. alli PS my brother (triss) can play "any" sim, i.e. Edinburgh 2 niches + probes.

It's all about experience on the sim. I always play on beginner mode with no delays with each new sim I try to get familiar, and then crank up the difficulty. After a while, even the most complicated and difficult sim becomes familiar and you 'learn' where each headcode and destination is without even thinking about it. Beware though - on max difficulty, you can sometimes complete a TT some 8 - 10 hours after it is supposed to finish...! Log in to reply The following user said thank you: postal |

euston is fairly easy. but if you want to go very easy well lancing and royston are good with the difficulty level high. but on lancing you dont change points
