Yesterday, on Teamspeak, I was told that I did not know how to host and that was the truth. I was rather taken back by this remark, as I was in the middle of hosting KX and he was working one of the panels. This remark is a very negative attitude, quite insulting and in my opinion goes against the principles of multiplayer etiquette. Instead of his negative attitude, why did he not help me with the problems that were occurring within the sim, like so many good people who did just that? Any thoughts on this?

I've played with you, and to me you know how to host fine, I did not see any issues. Some people just like to find faults, wheras others are more helpful.

In my experience you host fine, yes a more experienced host could have perhaps cleared up the mess around Hertford without resorting to deleting trains, but I doubt I could've, and as a host is giving up their time to provide a game, such criticism seems harsh to me.

Constructive criticism is fine, but criticism for criticism's sake isn't. IMO.

Having read this thread when it was posted I was a bit discouraged from hosting a session for the first time.

However, tonight I hosted my first session and got good, useful feedback from the members who attended. Yes, I made a couple of errors but it is a learning experience.

Some people will have met me at the recent Bristol meeting. I work away from home 5 days each week so for 4 nights I am in a rented room. I am looking at hosting sessions for 4 hours each Monday - Thursday from 19:00 - 23:00 BST assuming my day job doesn't ruin my evenings. I have other things I could do online but the SimSig bug has bitten me hard since the Bristol meet.

Kindest regards

John

Take it from someone who has host hundreds of times.. it's you sim, your session. How you host is up to you and no-one else. If people are rude enough to say they don't like it then perhaps they should try hosting themselves.
