Is there any documentation that shows signal locations and signal numbers for a given route?

Not that I've been able to find. If you're looking for a SimSig-covered area, the Wiki has signal number plans for all the simulations, but nothing that shows (for example) a grid reference for the signal.

If you're looking for another area, there are a quite a few signal box interior photos knocking about on the internet, so you might be able to find signal numbers and the relative position of signals, but again I don't think there is anything that would tell you the actual location of a signal.

Hmm I'll keep looking around, I'm trying to get accurate signal data to aid in signal placement in TS2013

Of course there is, otherwise how do they firstly build the route, then secondly train drivers and guards and signallers.

I thought that information would be in the sectional appendix, but the one I have just shows, mileposts, station and crossing locations and line speeds.

The SAs do not show you signal numbers, nor are they designed to.
