Hi all,

I am just finishing off a timetable for an unreleased sim and am just sorting out the non-passenger trains that I have included into the timetable. The trains are:

0B07 2237hrs Southampton MCT - Eastleigh East Yard
0V14 1910hrs Eastleigh TRSMD - Margam
3S86 0800hrs Eastleigh Works - Yeovil Junction - Eastleigh Works
4B07 2328hrs Eastleigh East Yard - Southampton MCT
4E76 2030hrs Southampton MCT - Leeds Freightliner Terminal
4M78 1924hrs Southampton MCT - Crewe Basford Hall SSN

Note that 0B07 and 4B07 were later removed from the OTT schedule for 5th May but I have left them in because I had already written in the TTs for them.

Anyway, the problems I have with these are reading the timing load info on the national WTT. Descriptions given are:

0B07: LD75
0V14: LD75
3S86: DEMU
4E76: 75C66S12 (OTT: "Diesel loco + 1235-tonne load)
4M78: 75C66S12 (OTT: "Diesel loco + 1235-tonne load)
4B07: 75-66S04 (OTT: "Diesel loco + 400-tonne load)

By using data from the default TT I was supplied I have given type data (Length / Max Speed / Accel& Brake rate) for most of those trains as follows:

0B07 & 0V14: 23m / 75mph / Very high
4E76 & 4M78: 435m / 75mph / Low. Also freight line speeds.
3S86: 40m / 60mph / Low

But the snag is 4B07. What do I read into a timing load for that one in respect of length / max speed / ABR? If I can't get an answer to this I will remove 0B07 & 4B07 from the TT which would be a pity. Admittedly those two were removed by OTT from the 05th May schedule but I left them in to give as much freight as possible.

I'm not certain if it's what you're after, but the index of each freight WTT book has a guide- for example, page 5 of CY00

The best guide for freight trains are the designated 'Freight Trains Loads Books' which unless you have been issued with them or know someone within the railfreight industry that has them you are going to struggle. I find what you are trying to interpret very seay & simple to decipher, but then again working almost 20 years within the railfreight industry for me it is very easy. I have some 15-50 frreight train loads books which in date range from 1967 through to 1997 & that just about caters for all my timetabling needs. In your statement Dave the '75' denotes the maximum speed of the train & I suspect the '66' denoites the class of diersel loco used for the timing load & the 12 or 04 denotes the trailing tonnage. However that said I would say the power to weight ratio for the 'DEMU' would be set to 'High(commuter) for the acceleration rate of te train within SimSig paprameters. The trains loaded at 1235 tonnmes I would set a very low & the 400 tonne loading I would set as low.

Just a question, what un-released sim is it? Is it eastleigh, (going by 0B07 and 4B07.)

oh and dave the light locos, as they're freighliner they wont be 23m. cl70 are 21.7m but cl66 are 21.34m

0B07 is a light loco to collect wagons off repair by the look of it, returning as 4B07, probably with a handful of freghtliner flats. As has been said, a 66 is only 21.34m long (many people seem to think they are 23m long for some reason).

4E76 & 4M78 are 66 + freightliner (I'm not sure how many flats, but often 24 at a guess). I'm down in Didcot and Eastleigh next week - so I may be able to comment after those trips.

3S86 is an MPV for RHTT.

I would also suggest that 0V14 might convey multiple 66's.

an estimate for 0v14 would be 66x6, so 128.04m.

It wouldn't be more than 5 coupled loco's otherwise it would have to run as a X, ie 0X14, because they are classed as an exptional load

0V14 is one of the regular loco moves for (or in this case from) weekend engineering which is regularly re-coded to 0X14 - ie locos off engineers at Eastleigh heading back to Margam.

A quick guide to timing loads. eg 75C66S12 is broken down as follows, 75 - Max. Speed, C - Containers( this can also be H for Heavy Axle Weight B for both C&H or - for "standard")66 class of loco, S - single headed (D - Double headed as in 75C86D12) the last 2 digits are tons trailing load(x100)
