Did you know LU trains served meals? Early in the last century, Pullman services operated on selected Metropolitan Line services between the city and Chesham. Until a few years ago when through services became the norm, myself and my colleagues would often refer to the 2 through services in the evening as "The Chesham Pullmans" despite the fact no refreshment facilities were provided. Indeed, when an evening Chesham services is delayed, a colleague of mine often remarks that "Extra drinks to be served in the bar of the Chesham Pullman." Any train - LU or not - is more than capable of having the wrong kind of food trolley, if the trolley put on the train is not fit for the service on which it has been placed. Now on a long-distance service it may be devoid of an ice bucket. On an LU service it may be too large for the stock (we are dealing with tube stock). There is nothing in the LU conditions of carriage that says customers cannot board with smaller food trollies (perhaps the size and shape of a 2-wheeled shopping trolley). Well, I never! Learn something new every day. Of course, no risk of the wrong food trolley here - you bring your own! My favourite comment under the video was from the guy who posted "This is the service I deserve for what I pay." Of course you used to be able to do a Circle Line party until Boris banned booze on trains. But now the Circle is a teacup so even that couldn't be done. Not that food trolleys ever figured in a CLP, I suspect! :lol: Log in to reply |

Some may want to have a brief read of this Wiki article on the subject. I have previous had at-least one ECS train heading to Hornsey EMUD call in at Harringay Rev Sdg (KingsX sim) reporting wrong kind of food trolley - my joke in response about this to others (e.g.: in multiplay) is that the driver is being fussy because his favourite sandwich (I reckon Egg & Bacon) isn't available. :laugh: Thinking about it again now, depending on the location, perhaps RailGourmet mistakenly loaded the 'meal trolley' onto a commuter train and the 'snacks and refreshments' trolley onto a mainline (express) train! :silly: Certainly wouldn't be the first time said company have slipped up - I was eating breakfast in the food court at London Euston at around 10:30am on Saturday 10th September 2011 when the fire alarm began sounding. Upon my later return to Euston I spoke to a contact there who mentioned, although unconfirmed at the time, that it was RailGourmet's fault!
