Have you downloaded/installed the new system (V3.247) files? (ie the new SimSigLoader format?

See http://www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:install:loader for a guide.

Just added a bit to that Wiki page about installing in bespoke locations.

First thing to do is run a search on your hard drive for SimSigLoader.exe. If/when you find that you can see whether there is a structure of sub-folders for the Liv St and Marylebone sims.

Paul,

The new sims are a completely new format compared to the older sims released up to this point. They are not stand-alone executables anymore but .SIM files. They require you to use of the SimSig loader to run them which is now part of the System files you've downloaded an installed. Thre should be a shortcut for that on your system. What you need to do is run the loader. This should then list the sims you have installed (this only shows the newer .sim as the loader isn't needed for the older sims which you can simply click on and run as normal). Choose which sim you want from the list and away you go.

Since you can't run the new .sim files directly, they don't need their own icon which is why the installer doesn't give you the option to create one. The only icon you need for the new sims is a shortcut to run the loader.

Only two downloads? You need three:
System files V3.247 with Loader and Licence manager;
Marylebone;
Liverpool St.

Andy,

I think the two downloads being reffered to are the two sims. So what was done was the system files were downloaded and installed. The two sims were then uninstalled and re-installed but still no shortcuts......how I read it everything is there but it looks like Ozzy9001 is looking for an .exe for each of the sims, which you won't find as there isn't one......

Morning all,

I am struggling to get the new Marylebone Sim working. I have downloaded the newest V3.247 Ssytem Files and installed those, although not to the default location, mine are instaleld to Program Files. I have also downloaded the Marylebone Sim and installed it to the same location.

When I run the Licence manager and log in it comes up with a message saying 'Synchronising marylebone - licence(s) activated for current machine' once I press ok it goes to the Licence Manager screen which shows I have the licence for Marylebone allocated to this machine.

When I run the loader and run the Sim I still get a demo version.

Getting a bit stuck here, tried several times last night to download and install the files to the point I hit my download level.

Any help gratefully accepted.

David

Thanks Peter,

Once I created a SIMSIG folder in the right place and ran the Licence Manager program it creaetd the file.

That will teach me to be clever and install the programs to my existing Program Files/Simsig folder.

Am i correct in assuming that the new Simsig Loader program will only show Sims that are created in the x.sim format rather than the older ones that each had x.exe files.

Finally, I can play....

Regards,

David

That's correct only .SIM files will show in the loader.

You need to allocate the license to your machine. Run the SimSig license manager to do that.

That doesn't address ozzys problem which is probably a missing common.cfg file (as addressed by Peter in this sticky topic).

Ozzy

You need to check your Public Documents or Shared Documents folder. This should contain a SimSig sub-folder where the Licence Manager places a configuration file. If the sub-folder is not there the Licence Manager takes the huff. You need to manually create the sub-folder then re-run the Licence Manager.

If you can't see your Public Documents or Shared Documents folder I'm afraid you'll have to plough through the whole of this topic where various other people have had the same problem and the steps they have taken to solve it.

Open the License Manager (there should be a shortcut under all programs), and log in using your forum log in. You will then see all the licenses you own, at which point you can allocate them to the machine you are currently using.

You need to open the loader (there should be a shortcut to it under All Programs), from which you can launch the simulation.

Have you allocated the license to your computer using the steps I described above? If you haven't, you will only be able to run the demo version.

Note that the Loader and License manager are seperate programs on your computer.
