Hi

I'll have a look through the achives tonight when I get home (be about midnight - currently at work). I seem to remember it being in a thread suggesting BNS in the wish lists section but I may be wrong. If anyone else knows of the one that covered the entire area that I saw feel free to post a link. Type in birmingham new street into the forums search may bring it up somewhere

Many thanks
Mark

I haven't seen a screenshot for it. Any links to it?

I have a screenshot and I am considering uploading it if I can find a place to host it.

It was about 18 months ago. I downloaded onto my old pc to get a closer look at it bt that got destroyed. If I can't find the forum post I won't upload it as I don't have any permissions for it. Ive got tomorrow off as well so can spend a bit of time going through the on line achives to see if its still there. If not you'll just have to wait im afraid. It was a very early screenshot and you get more detail reading the wiki page than from the screenshot

Said in my previous post here that I had no host but I have now done something about that. I got a host location set up and so a screenshot of SimSig layout for Birmingham New Street can be found by going to http://daveharries.zxq.net/SimSig_bns.JPG. Sorry if this is a spoiler: it is not intended as such but just to give a preview. Having said that we don't know which sim is to be released.

The image should open in a browser window. Click anywhere and it should make the image bigger and you can then scroll around the map. The map is of the 1970s era according to the box in the lower middle with Birmingham International on lower left with lines to Rowley Regis and Dudley on the right hand side.

If there are requests to remove the link then please PM and I will give that message my full attention.

As an aside I will be turning the http://daveharries.zxq.net site into a site that will contain, among other things, notes for any SimSig timetables I create. I think it will be better to put them into an online resource than to have to read it in the small box you get below the timetable list for each sim when you start a new game. More of that when I get the site open.

HTIOI,
Dave

Thanks for that Dave. saves me a few hours, That looks more up to date than the, one I had, the one I had only had the base layout, no external areas. Looks like it would be VERY fun during rush hour solo, IF it was to be released

No problem. It will doubtless be a fun sim to play, especially if it was chained with Saltney.

I struggle with saltney on its own when it starts kicking off, especially with proof house jnc blocked off, that with NS I think I'd end up having a breakdown.

You could do a monster chain, NS, SLT, GLO, BRI, EXE, SWINDI, WEST. That all on your own, see who really is the best rofl

Lol. Yes you could. Sounds like an excuse for a mega session for a couple of hours. Probs not a serious shortage of players. You could also add Exeter to the chain if demand was there.

Thanks for the pic; think the one I saw was from a pre-scrolly version so only showed the basic station layout; but it was a while ago so I can't really remember!
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

It could be anything that none of us know about, the Chiltern release for example caught us off guard!

BHM would be good if it was. Playing even a modern timetable looks like it would be a right royal PITA!

Have you seen the platform workings on Open Train Times for a typical day at New Street? There are quite a few terminators that, somehow, get jumped over by through VT or XC services, or they terminate in one platform but are booked out on another platform (I.E booked arrival 9A, forms new service, booked departure 3B)

I was thinking about chaining the other day. The big missing links are Derby and Doncaster - with those you could also add Trent, Sheffield, Worksop, Peterborough, KX, Cambridge, and The Area Formerly Known As South Humberside. Cross Country services all the way from Ivybridge to Templehirst Jn anyone? Or a good chunk of Immingham trains going all the way to their destinations?

(all we need then would be a fictional TT that resurrected the 1960s Cleethorpes-Devon through trains!)

I hope it's an updated Kings Cross with different eras simulated: old era (as per the current sim) and a modern era (to include KX P0, the US2 and Hitchin flyover).

As always, we will just have to wait and see...

Good point but could be best left until everything else comes into 3 Bridges. THere is quite a bit to come!

but of course waiting to include all the new depots etc and new areas gained by three bridges control that would depend on there being no conflict of interests...

I would say though that is KX was updated there might also be an update for Peterborough to make that a scrolly and make the boundaries the same as the real PSB. Don't no though

The new depot at Three Bridges doesn't alter much on the main panels. But if you wait until all the alterations have taken effect on the main panels then that will take you on 2015 at least before any sim of the different eras can be done. The Arun Valley re-signalling is going onto panel 7 which is not simulated on any of the proposed Three Bridges sims as far as I'm aware.

But in the next few years we will get a new platform at Gatwick, Full bi directional signalling between Balcombe Tunnel Juction and Copyhold Junction and not Simbids that it is now. Branch sidings No. 1&2 at Horsham are being brought into use this Christmas and are the new Thameslink sidings at Brighton Down main No1 & 2. The New Thameslink Depot will be opening within 18 months. Plus there are the new 6 thameslink sidings coming to Horsham yard. Then there are things in the pipeline for a new platform 0 at Redhill and platform 7 at Norwood Junction and I must not forget the extra signal sections on the Coastway East between Lewes and Brighton. Then finally we have the Arun Valley re-signalling going onto panel 7 sometime soon (maybe). But None of the above has anything to do with the new ROC unless they can't physically put the new Thameslink sidings at Horsham onto panel 7 then that will move to the ROC in 2015 (maybe).

All I'll say at this point is that there are two (I think) guesses which are virtually spot on; most of the rest are way off!

Okay, one more hint then. Everybody seems to have fixated on it being one simulation.

Of course! The comment I posted on Facebook was from a sense of achievement after several of us went through a 26-hour timetable in two sessions, at 2-3x normal speed, in order to test the timetable. It's great that there is excitement and debate - just need to wait a few more days while we do our best to get rid of any last minute glitches.
