A thought:

I am sure like many others my use of SimSig is often on a solo basis - is it possible that using a similar process to ARS running in the background that solo users could in future "isolate" one workstation for live operation and have all the others "robot" controlled?

It's probably my age but the old brain starts to seize up with too much scrolling and trying to remember where I need to jump next lol

Alternatively is it were possible to mark key points as some kind of "alarm point" so when a train neared them it would remind the befuddled operator to look - Not prototypical but would help this signalman lowest class know what he was doing !

Thanks

It has indeed, and if I remember rightly the overall reaction was negative.

I personally think it's a great idea, and it could be purely optional of course, maybe a feature that would require quite a lot of development work though?

Any ARS simulation can be operated in this manner by disabling the subroutes for the area the user wishes to control.

I think that's the closest we can get, FCFS as on Cambridge being an alternative.

It's open to the developer to add all the ARS data and arrange at startup for it to be either activated or not. But it's a lot of work that can't easily be automated, so some people don't bother. (On the other hand, doing it can make testing a lot easier; I did that in WembleySub, though I didn't keep the data up to date after some last-minute changes.)

The debugging panel includes a "simple route" function, which sets routes for trains automatically *if* there's only one route they can take compatible with their timetable. I don't know if Geoff would consider making this an F3 feature instead.

Beyond that, any kind of simplified working is up to the developer. As someone pointed out, Cambridge has FCFS working at March and "assume everything is a through train" working at Royston.
