Train won't proceed over failed points 09/01/2014 at 13:18 #53698

Afternoon all,

Set a little scene for you.

KX (loader version). I failed 2273 points (took away normal detection), and then Cranked the points into the normal position. Of course, I have no detection still so the protecting signal will have to be passed at danger, and the points flash OOC.

So, the first train comes along, authorise him past 710 signal, and he grinds to a halt on the TC on the approach to the points. I check the train list, and it says "points set against train"

I gave normal detection back, and of course it was fine. Is it designed to be like this, or is it a bug? As of course, in real life, the MOM securing the points to the required position is as good as having detection, enabling you to pass the protecting signal at danger.

If it is designed in this way (restrictions of the program or whatever reason) then what can hand crank be used for? I have never had a failure where I am unable to call the points to the required position (I.e won't move, not loss of detection). The only thing I could think of if a track circuit failure holding a set of points in the wrong position, and get them hand cranked into the new position then pass the protecting sig at danger again.

Thoughts/ideas?

Please refer to the following thread.Apparently this problem is already flagged as a bug:
http://www.SimSig.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&view=topic&catid=37&id=36388&Itemid=0
While the above thread refers to a similar bug in the Westbury sim,I have come across an identical bug in the SwinDid sim.The specific point is the entry to the Didcot TC Oxford end.
This indicates that this bug, though present in several sims does not apply across all the sims and all the points.

Khalid.
