Hi, I've just updated the Loader software on my Linux box, which up til now has run SimSig perfectly under Wine. I have downloaded the trainlist.css and simplifier.css and put them in the right place (same folder as the SimSigLoader.exe), but when I press either F2 or F8, I get the standard surround but no actual detail, just a message telling me to "wait for a moment..."

I am given to understand that the simplifier had been broken in Linux before now, but if the Train List is also broken, SimSig is going to be nigh on unplayable on my home computer, which is where I have spent many happy hours trying to signal trains. Do we know why F2/F8 is broken in Linux? Is there a possible workaround?

I really would be most disappointed if some kind of fix is not possible (although my wife may not feel the same way!)

Thanks in advance for any help,

Sam

As with most problems users have, it has already been discussed on the Forum. Have a look here.

Quick note, I used ie8 instead of ie7 (still through winetricks) and had no trouble with that either (once I changed to WINEARCH=win32, to pretend I was using a 32-bit instead of 64-bit system—without that, neither one would install).

Out of interest, do you just run it through a Wine layer, or something like Play on Linux (Another program on Ubuntu, not sure about other installs).

I haven't yet got around to trying it out on this version (Not got around to updating), but any times I have had an issue (Normally after the first install) then I just install it again, and things typically appear to work again without issues

Personally I just have plain ordinary wine. The installers ended up putting items in my system menu for the loader, license manager, and legacy sims, just as they would in Windows, so I don’t really need anything beyond that.
