Up way too late trying to sort out my woes at Ravenstruther!



7B58-1 1716 Ravenstruther - Millerhill won't move because 6S78 already on patch
6S78 0900 Ironbridge - Ravenstuther won't move because 7B58-1 already on patch

Hmm, whilst trying to sort this 'face-off' out, it has gone from bad to worse:

6C18 1600 Millerhill - Ravenstruther now sitting short of Cleghorn LC and won't move because 7B58-1 already on stretch!

Now at 1749 and loathe to remove a train if there is another way out of this!

Any ideas?

Had a quick look and one way to get out of it without removing any trains is to route 6S78 out of the headshunt onto the mainline to MC403. This will make 6S78 non-ARS. Reverse via MC410 > MC412 and run 6S78 into the DPL LOS signal at Carstairs to allow 7B58 to come out of the coal terminal. 7B58 can come out of the terminal as soon as 6S78 clears the vicinity of MC410. I also made 6C18 non-ARS but don't think that is necessary.

Once 7B58 is out of the headshunt and clear of Cleghorn LC then 6C18 can run into the headshunt to allow the mainline to clear and once cleared then re-run 6S78 back into the terminal.

That was my take on it although it may not be the best way and I'm sure other solutions may be possible. I haven't uploaded a game as I concentrated just on this part of the sim and not any others.

EDIT: A bit of manual reversing at MC403 and the LOS will be necessary for 6S78

EDIT 2 : Saved game attached from about 10 minutes later sim time for info/help.

Just to confirm did you give permission for 7B58 to enter or did it appear of its own volition? If the latter then that seems a bug.

Oh dear! Whoops!

Hold my hand up to that schoolboy error...

Almost 100% sure that I gave permission for 7B58 to enter when there was nowhere for it to go!

It was very late at night and I was getting frustrated by the amount of outstanding telephone calls that I wanted to answer and resolve before I went to bed at a sensible time.

So accepted request for 7B58 to enter without thinking of the consequences!

Hmm. Sincere thanks to flymo for his workround suggestion.

Followed his instructions to the letter and now all moving eventually.

Salutary lesson in not accepting all yard supervisor requests willy-nilly!

Started totting up the delays due to my error - certainly over 2 hours in total due to one single mistaken answer to a telephone call - scary!

Assume there must be a TRUST delay attribution code for signaller/regulation error?

And that he/she would be in trouble for this amount of delay?

PS Will take it as a useful lesson in manually reversing trains to sort out a mess!
