Background information

During January 2014, the South West of England was continuosly hit by storms and heavy rain, causing widespread flooding. Following a particularly vicous storm on the evening of the 4th February, around 80m of sea wall collapsed just east of Dawlish station, leaving Cornwall cut off from the rest of the network. Parth of the Down platform at Dawlish was also lost. Further rainfall meant that by the 8th of February, flooding had closed the line at Fordgate, south of Bridgwater. Further problems were caused by flooding at Athelney, and a landslide at Crewkerne (on the Honiton- Yeovil line). By the 13th, however, the embankment at Crewkerne had been stabalised, and the water level at Atheleney had dropped to allow trains to operate. This allowed a reasonable service to operate on the 13th.

Service Pattern

West of the sea wall breach, First Great Western are operating an hourly shuttle between Newton Abbot and Paignton, and an hourly service between Newton Abbot and Penzance. Cross Country are also operating a handful of services to Penzance.

Local services to Exmouth and Barnstaple continue as normal. Exmouth-Paignton trains run between Exeter St Davids and Exmouth only.

An hourly shuttle is in operation between Exeter and Taunton, and there is an hourly service to/from London Paddington. Cross Country are operating a handful of services to the north, diverting via Castle Cary.

South West Trains run as normal.

Notes

I've had to make educated guesses regarding traction used and coaching stock diagrams, however the timetable does include every service which ran on the 13th.
Please note HSTs take 7 minutes to reverse.
This timetable is set after Silk Mill LC was abolished, so feel free to leave the barriers down all day. You won't get a points penalty.

This timetable is quieter than normal, so beginners should find it OK. For more experienced players, the lack of flexibility in the Exeter area can present a challenge when running the harder scenarios, and an extra challenge can be added by running with TORR turned off.
