When trying to input a service from Wimbledon through to Herne Hill I have used 2D25 from the sim supplied timetable as an example to enable me to get the correct location and routings. This 2D25 validates without problem in that timetable as it should do.

In the 1990 era, I have entered Wimbledon as a starting point then Haydons Road stopping, Tooting stopping, Streatham South Jct. passing, Streatham stopping, Tulse Hill stopping and finally Herne Hill stopping. This validates successfully, however, when you close the timetable and reopen it Streatham South Jct is shown immediately after Wimbledon and then Haydons Road, Tooting, Streatham etc. Something wrong here I think. This is confirmed by doing a timetable analysis which shows Tooting as out of order in the timetable and likewise Streatham out of order in the timetable.

I note that in the 2000 era layout Wimbledon has had platform 10 turned into a bay platform with any down trains going through Wimbledon having to use platorm 9 to gain access to the down St. Helier. Could this change in layout have resulted in the required pathing information not being transferred or changing have something to do with the editor and validation process not recognising what should happen.

Any ideas?

Geoff

haven't got the sim open to hand but could there need to be additional passing points that need times between the 2000/current and 1990s eras. Specifically thinking about the West Croydon - Wimbledon line part and where it joins in and whether there is another junction that needs to be included in the TT. As I say haven't got it open at the mo to check but just a thought

Quite possible. I was thinking to put Streatham Jct in the locations after Streatham South Jct but it is not included in the editor. I did originally have the service coming from Sutton and on mfcoopers suggestion split it so one part was from Sutton to Wimbledon and another from Wimbledon to Herne Hill. When I validated the first part after I rewrote then it did validate correctly and also added Wimbledon West Jct. Closed this and reopened and everything was in the correct order which leads me to suggest the problem is a routing one after Wimbledon towards Streatham South Jct.

Another thought:

Have you put in a passing time for Streatham South Jcn or just left it 00/00 and ticked the passing time box. If you haven't put in a time try doing that and see if it solves the problem

00/00 with a ticked passing point. I see where you are coming from so I will try putting a time in with a passing point tick and see what happens.

That worked...what a star you are.....thanks, but I seem to think with other similar situations on other sims you only needed to put 00/00 with the passing point ticked and it worked a treat. Is this something to do with version 4.028 and the new core code?

Glad you got it working - just had a brainwave about it as where I'd put in one of the times in an hour earlier in Vic C it mixed the locations up which made me think of the solution.

I'm waiting till I've finished my Vic 2012 before updating from 4.025 so I'm not sure Geoff, I seem to think it has needed a time to be inputted for a while - it may be sim dependant on how certain junctions have been coded by the developer or a newer core code.

I don't think so. It's been a while since I've been near that code, but from memory it's something like this ...

There are "key" and "non-key" locations. The paths and timetable validation only takes account of key locations, so these have to be in the right order. The non-key locations are associated with a segment between two key locations, but there's a bit of code that sorts the locations in the same segment into time order (I forget why, but there was a good reason at the time). So if you give something a time of 00/00 it will go to the start of that segment. If it was already at the start, or there's only one non-key location in the segment, it will work. If it's the second one in the segment and you give the first one a real time, that's when the problem hits.
