In real life if the approach track fails will an Approach Controlled Signal come off as soon as the route is set and if so will a Signaller delay clearing the signal until they are confident the train speed has been checked sufficiently? If no what controls prevent the signal coming off? Thanks in advance for anybody who can help with this query, generated by a TCF at Bushbury Junction.

Hi Yes the approach controlled signal will come off. This is protected by the fact that the signal in rear will be held at red by the TCF so the train would be proceeding at caution towards the signal in question. We have to be very careful to make sure that the signal in rear is fed by the same or a later repeat of the track circuit relay that releases the approach control.
