TD bug near Saltney? 01/09/2014 at 18:25 #64294

Hello all! I noticed some odd behaviour near Saltney. If hypothetical trains 1A11 and 1A12 approach Rockcliffe Hall workstation entering from Saltney Junction very close together and the former gets checked at a signal, the TD can get confused:

  1. 1A11 enters and pulls up to signal RH1 with 1A11 in the RH1 TD berth.

  2. 1A11 stops at signal RH1, occupying track circuit TRH1.

  3. 1A12 occupies track circuit TRH0, and will be held at signal CR213.

  4. As soon as 1A12 occupies track circuit TRH0, headcode 1A12 steps up to the RH1 berth, overwriting 1A11 who is actually waiting there.

Is this a bug in the sim, or does Rockcliffe Hall’s TD actually do this?

Sorry, I don’t want to bother people, but I also don’t want this to get lost in the forum activity—is this going to go onto the hidden bug tracker? Has it been noted but is not actually a bug?

None of the signal boxes in NWC have a train describer IRL, so it must be a bug.

Hi Hawk, I did note the thread the other day and logged the bug for attention, I've been back and forth moving house so haven't had chance to look until this morning.

I can confirm it is a bug, and I've fixed it ready for the update. (An interim solution would be to signal trains faster  )

Thank you for spotting it.

Rockcliffe Hall has a TD screen linked to Chester PSB (Somewhere I have a rather blurry photo of it), and he will interpose a train into this in order for the TD to appear on Chester panel.

As part of the update the TD's between the Saltney Junction fringe, and Rockcliffe Hall have changed slightly to more accurately reflect this.

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

Hah! Hard to do in Project X when every available section in the whole area is already occupied

I know this thread is 18 months old, but I just wanted to report that it seems the bug still exists in version 3.1b1 (loader 4.5.8). It becomes evident in the aforementioned “Project X” timetable (2C61 stops at Shotton and then picks up the close-following 6J15’s TD upon departure). Sorry: no save to submit to you. :doh

Absolutely love this sim. I semi-frequently travel this way when travelling home to Dún Laoghaire. B)

I'll have a look into it, it's been a while since I've had a play with it!
