A few useless observations 18/02/2015 at 23:46 #69327

My thanks to the team for Birmingham New Street - it's a stunning sim and well worth the purchase. I'm playing the timetable that shipped with the sim.

I'm up to the end of the morning peak and just about surviving at 1:1 (with occasional pauses to catch breath) at 89%. Not sure how, but the wrong route total shan't be mentioned!

It's kept me sufficiently busy that I haven't been able to get to grips with service patterns or anything, despite being pretty well acquainted with the area.

Brum International is rather too flexible to be a decent challenge - even when I forgot about an ATW train and let it go into 2, because pretty much everything stops and all the platforms are bi-di, it didn't cause too much hassle. Obviously this is how it is in real life, but I thought I'd counter the view of certain users that reality is too difficult :P

The multiple entry points at Landor St/Bordesley Jn and at Aston are a real challenge, and Proof St Jn is still extremely unforgiving if you make an error!

It's very frustrating, but extremely rewarding, and it's a really good mental workout - keeps you on your toes. Immersive too, don't think I've spoken to the missus all night. Her loss, and that.

Thanks for a superb sim!

I'm with you there RainbowNines on the New St sim. I was platform staff between '89 and 2001 so I have the overview of the station in my head while playing. As I've mentioned elsewhere, the first problem I had was what seems a bit of confusion in interposing the TDs as there is no ACI. I do find I'm concentrating so much on NSt before I suddenly remember to sort out International.
Mal.
