We noted the centenary of Quintinshill, and less than a month later we have the 80th anniversary of another significant accident in the history of British railway signalling: the accident at Welwyn Garden City on 15 June 1935. This of course led to the introduction of Welwyn control, which closed the remaining 'loophole' in Absolute Block signalling controls.
