I have just loaded a Rugby South saved game and I got a message saying I didn't have a suitable licence for this Sim. When I checked the Licence Manager all of my sims were showing as allocated to another machine. This has happened since yesterday afternoon.

Can anyone help please.

Just tried login in to Licence manager again and after a long wait it appears to have corrected itself.

I have found this happens if you update windows 10 to the latest build. Each new build seems to make your computer think it is new computer and not an update.

I seem to lose the allocations when us ing a particular wifi hotspot, using another hotspot will regain my allocations. Could it be something to do with IP addresses?

It's nothing to do with IP addresses. Static IP addresses aren't hugely common, so a lot of people would be having a problem if it was.

I've not had this problem on either of my Windows 10 machines, and both are right up to date. Anyone else had this issue?

I can confirm it's nothing to do with IP addresses, and updates to Windows 10 (or any other version) should not make the computer look "different" to what it was before.

Very broadly, about 20% of this website's users are on Windows 10 according to the user agent string that their browsers send. It wouldn't be entirely unreasonable to assume about 20% of people with licensed sims are on Windows 10 and this is the first I've heard of updates or hotspots potentially causing issues.

Ah, this is news. Exactly how are you running the software - dual boot, CrossOver, Wine...?

I know a few people here use Crossover but personally have never used it. Are there some options somewhere that perhaps cause the machine to have an identity crisis - or more to the point, some setting to ensure it "looks" the same every time you run it?

I cannot find any options in Crossover that would solve the problem, in fact there are hardly any options at all.
