2Y57 is ready to depart from Northampton P4, at 07:17, towards Coventry. It stands as seeded, "outside" (i.e. closer to the platform end) 5Y00, which is not due to go until 08:38. 2Y57 will not move, as it reports 5Y00 is in its way.

How can I deal with this?

Abandon 5Y00's timetable and move him to the U&D slow until 2Y57 has departed. Put 5Y00 back in platform 4 and re-instate timetable.

Rather than move stock around I just assign each train the others timetable.

Fine if they're the same type of stock. Otherwise the poor bobby has to swear & curse at the depot for sending trains out in the wrong order and set to the shunt.

Fair point from KBarber but both services are 4-car class 350 EMUs so I decided my solution was OK. Yes, I realize there are various sub-classes but this info isn't available in SimSig land so I acted as the Fat Controller !!

Yes, worked fine moving 5Y00 to the Reception line until 2Y57 had gone.

Suspected that might be the case - but couldn't be sure - at that location. So, dead right - and if that means units are on the wrong diagrams to come back for maintenance purposes that's the depot's fault. (And if they were different traction, a late start due to the shunting attributed to the depot, followed by a suitable phone call to the Brains (do they still call 'em that these days?) would hopefully ensure it didn't happen again.)
