For nearly two years now, Windows XP has not been supported by Microsoft. We haven't done anything so far to inadvertently stop making SimSig work on XP but in order to update the software to be compliant with more recent standards, it is necessary to introduce some code which will make SimSig incompatible with XP. Before we do this, I would like to gauge the reaction of users here. Really nobody should be running XP if they can help it (per Microsoft security advice) but that doesn't mean to say some still are. As long it is fully updated and you have a gd anti-virus software, you dont need to upgrade it. Even though, I'm saving up for a new computer, I still take care of my windows XP even though Microsoft doesn't update it anymore. You can "take care" of it all you like, without having the ability to patch system issues you're very much at risk. Also I'm pretty sure the only supported browsers are Firefox and Opera, so if you are using it to browse the internet, make sure you're using only those. Not IE or Chrome. Still running XP here with AV, firewall and wired router. My reasons for not changing are the investment in good TV/Satellite cards and a general desire not to waste a whole week of my life getting back to where I am on software installations and correcting Windows annoyances. Had enough of that at work this year (3 times, but at least I was being paid  )I also resent paying Microsoft again for what I see as something I have already bought! Bill Log in to reply |

Still using XP as I don't (yet) have a PC that is able to run Win 10. Hopefully that will soon change as I'm buying the parts to build a new PC (Asus Z170K motherboard, Intel Core i7-6700, 16gB 2666mHz RAM & Nvidia GTX970 all in a Corsair Graphite 760T case. Not bothered about overclocking as however well you cool it, the processor/memory/chipset etc will fail prematurely no matter how careful you are. I take it Simsig will run on Win10 64 bit...? Hopefully this new PC will be up & running in a month or so's time. Log in to reply |

Seems there are a few of you, and no doubt many more unspoken. I should be able to handle XP by falling back if it can't find the newer WIndows DLLs. Thanks to Headshot the changes already been tested successfully on a Linux and Mac as well was Win8.1 and 10. Yes, SimSig runs on Win10 64bit. SimSig Boss Log in to reply |

I have an old XP Machine that I custom built few years back when XP was going strong until it's death in April 2014. Since then all data has been wiped from it and said idle since. Since then I've built myself a new up-to-date gaming rig and happily running MS's New Win10 64Bit. But cutting the story anyone with XP still on it's about time you upgraded to Windows 7 or above. Even if you say you have a good AV or not them very important monthly security update patches from MS are vital for the machine.
