Driver reported strange aspect on Rugby South 10/03/2016 at 20:14 #81118

Hi guys,

I am currently running the default 2009 timetable for Rugby South with a few minor changes for my own use only mostly rolling stock related

Anyway, I had 2K22 in Platform 5 at Tring at WT5172 report this (2K22 delayed at Tring due to technical reasons, expected to depart at about 10:15) So I told the driver I was going to put the signal back and I collared it to prevent the ARS from resetting the route.

At the time I had 4O86 awaiting the signal to proceed at TK5174 and 2T31 soon to approach WT5163 so I collared that signal as well in order to signal 4O86 though Platform 4 at Tring first then I was going to signal 2T31 into it's booked platform 4 to terminate to form it's next working.

So that all being said, 4O86 was just approaching WT5168 and 2K22 was approaching WT5170 when 2K22 reported "Unexpected aspect 2 at SWT5172 after seeing 6 at STK1418"

Now I didn't see any change of aspect to any of the trains involved so what does the reported error actually mean?

It means that the train passed TK1418 at green and then WT5172 at single yellow; the core code believes that this is a wrong aspect sequence, presumably because it's four-aspect signalling.

(I forget who the dev is; if the sequence is correct, can they contact me please?)

TK1418 is a shunt signal - no routes to it, just routes through it as a preset shunt and from it. Will send email.

Just checked the core code: the bit that reports this message uses the last signal passed, which will have been TK1414, but doesn't record the aspect of preset shunts. So the "6" (green) refers to the last main signal passed, which will be 5174.

Hmm, looks like the code doesn't suppress this situation if the signal is put back and then clears before the train departs the station. Mantis 15106 raised.
