Loader Fails To Update When York North/South Sim Purchased 14/05/2016 at 09:58 #82323

I have just purchased the new York North/South simulation, clicked 'Check for updates' in the loader to download the sim and update the loader. However, when I try to update the loader with the checked SimSigloader.exe - app 4.5.11.0 I keep getting an error box telling me that a file had failed to be copied to C\Program Files(x86)\Simsig\SimSigloader.exe. I have tried copying the files manually into SimsigLoader.exe but without success. Has anybody else had issues updating the loader when purchasing the York North/South sim?

Regards,

Phil.

I think the Loader update came a couple of days ago: I applied it with no problems.

I click for updates whenever I go to run a sim but I haven't run any for a couple of weeks so am still running loader V4.5.8 (at least that is what is displayed in the corner of the loader window). This is the first time in all my years of running SimSig that I have ever had a problem. Sim installations and more recently loader updates have always gone without a hitch. I have tried updating with my firewall on and off but no joy, I keep getting the 'Failed to copy...' dialog box popping up.

After you press check for updates, manually close down the SimSig Loader, then proceed through the updater.

There was a bug in 4.5.8 that meant the loader wasn't automatically shut down by the updater.

Hi Headshot119, I am not very skilled where computers are concerned. How do you shut down the SimSig loader manually and then proceed through the updater?

I think run the file entitled SimSigRefresher.exe which launches the updater outside of the launcher.

Click 'Check For Updates'. A new window appears, which is the updater. However, notice that behind that window, the Loader start up screen is still there. Click on any part of the start-up screen you can see to bring it to the front, then click 'Exit' on the start up screen. The start-up screen will disappear, leaving you with just the updater window. Carry on with the update as normal, and it should update successfully.

The Loader should close automatically when you check for updates, so you won't need to do this again once updated- there was a bug with the version you have.

If you can't get the above to work, simply download a later version of the system files here and install them. You don't need to uninstall the old version- the new version will simply overwrite it. Once installed, you'll need to update again, but the updater will work without a problem.
