Question is a Class 142 cleared between Sunderland and South Hylton at all as I was under the impression that only Metro rolling stock was cleared - only reason I ask is because I just had 2N18 10:45 Hexham - Middlesbrough (NT 2/142) approaching Signal 6222 and the ARS stated the wrong route was chosen so the train went Non ARS.

The only issue with this being that I had ensured the route was set towards Seaham as the train was heading towards Middlesbrough and the correct platform at Sunderland was chosen so why would the ARS say this?

Before anyone comments, I am aware that the ARS as in real life is not 100% faultless!
Which version of the simulation are you using? Tested in 1.1 and cannot reproduce. 142s haven't been considered for clearance on that route according to the Sectional Appendix, and in any case non-Metro trains are generally prohibited from the branch.
Version 1.1 so the same as you in any case I just ignored it and put the ARS back on for that service - just thought I say something as it was unusual.

Or just shunt the wagons forward while the loco is separate. I have sent a query to NR over this train because TRUST says it's too long for the loop (and loop length verified by Google Earth and scheme plans). I suspect the answer is something like "yes it does hang out when running around, and this* is how we deal with it". * being an answer I hope to receive.

I just started the train from ahead of the signal. The train rings in at departure time requesting authorisation to move. I suspect in real life, the runround is done and if foul of the main line, the train is started ahead of the signal. If the train is early or late, then delays to other trains will occur.

It's booked to sit there an hour and a half and wouldn't foul the main line that long. Run Round and push the wagons back in, works and is legal and safer than starting ahead

As another option, is it possible to set the stopping position at FX@-nn so that the train pulls past the signal to stop, allowing space at the other end to rejoin?

Have just tested, and it works, is to set it to NX+24m and clear the loop exit signal to allow the train to pull forward enough to allow space at the rear for rejoining loco (21m); NX+23m also works, but loco foul whilst joining and then sneaks in.

(Did it that way vice FX as actual loop length not known)

Not sure if this has been mentioned but 2N24 arrives at Newcastle at 12:56 and forms 5W64 which is due to leave at 12:04? Should the ECS depart at 13:04 instead?

First I knew of this - thank you. This has been resolved for v1.2 of the Tyneside TT.

ARS also decided to route this train back into platform 7 rather than platform 1 so I had to send it around the loop again.

Is this at startup (while trains are seeding) or later?

Clive,
The swingset won't swing well into the session, at about 1130 - 1200 from memory. The routes cannot be cancelled and so we have a Mexican Standoff with two trains.
I also notice that the phone ringing goes wonky at the same time.

Just been experimenting with Tyneside at the Wardley entry, and I have noticed some peculiarities, trains traveling on the line in the DN direction towards Sig "9" in the track circuts leading up to it the direction of travel displayed in "F2" starts to show UP, but on stopping at or passing the signal will display "DN" again

And most strange and alarming if the train stops (ie: passing is not ticked) at signal "9" the trains will start back to Wardley traveling wrong direction on DN line.

I have attached a TT I made so staff can use it to see the problems.
4 trains have been made but only the last one will reverse back towards Wardley

Added info

while I was experimenting I also had an Access violation I have added the realivent part of the loader LOG

With regrads to the above the TT editor validates a route from Wardley to Pelaw jn using line "JL" which I belive is the line from Jarrow Shell But the train will enter at Wardley but the route is set from signal "31"

Same is true for a route from Jarrow Shell to Pelaw jn using line "LL" it sets the route up from Signal "9"

Here's a bug I don't think seems to have been spotted so far: with its A button pressed, signal T277 will clear with its apparent overlap track TYAU occupied.

I've tried to attach an image to demonstrate, but was unable to get it to upload.

Tested and confirmed, though occurs regardless of auto button state. Mantis 16210.

Hi Geoff

Bought this yesterday and spent a few hours mastering it..can you tell me how you can colour the track to indicate the different power sources. I have a number of sims were this is relevant

cheers Iain

Unless there's something that I don't know about, the user can't change the colour of the tracks in SimSig.

Where there are different power sources in a sim, you'll usually find information in the relevant simulation manual, in this case, on page number 17 of the Tyneside User Manual, there is a link to a coloured diagram which shows the different power sources and where there is un-electrified track.

This is the link for Tyneside IECC:
