The last word on a Wiki page is not showing. For example in the page for the London meet the past section should be Simulations to be used: TBC.

The TBC shows in the edit window but does not display when the page is saved.

It's not necessarily the last word. On the Huddersfield manual the "operational Notes" page cuts off at least one line, further more on pressing the edit button all I can see on the edit page is the header not the text below it

Some glitches on the WIKI (Salisbury manual):-
i) formatting seems to be corrupted, eg bold on/off gets out of phase so subtitles unbolded, text bolded;
ii) links to sub pages are lost/broken;
iii) images not displaying.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

There were 1100 pages in the Wiki so not all were checked. It's possible the parser needs to be more tolerant of anything unexpected.

Folks, the forum read notifications should go away as time goes by. The way Kunena implemented it was not easily adaptable to the way this site does it (and there are other methods too).

I have created a temporary Wiki pages with hopefully all the issues raised so far:

Interesting... I was able to log in with my old username & password... am I a hacker?
I'm sorry I'm not going to reply to everybody's questions just yet. This one though:

No, what happens is when you first log in to this new website it compares your password with the Joomla one, which is hashed. Hashed is a one way thing, so there is no way to go from a hash back to a clear text password. Think of it as a fancy way of coming up with a number from what you enter as a password, like "themeaningoflife" results in "42" (well, it's much longer than that but you get the idea). Once it's compared the magic result it then asks you to enter your password - which can be the same if you want - and then uses the built in security thing to store it somewhat more securely than Joomla ever did, and marks you as "transferred" so you can't use the Joomla password again (unless you set it the same). Hope that sets your mind at rest.

I am unable to attach images (.png to be specific) to posts, with the following error:

Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Razor' or one of its dependencies. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070020)

It also appears that quote tags don't work, and trying to edit any post gives me:

Quote:

...and then including HTML tags like "h4" gives an unhandled error too!

Quote:

The amount of white space is really annoying- there's a very large margin on either side that's permanently white, the shoutbox/sidebars are too wide, as is the 'profile' section of a Forum post- when all added up, it means that a Forum post (which is the only thing I'm really interested in) only occupies half of the screen width. Appearance-wise, font sizing means that signatures appear to be as important as the content of the message, and various other things mean it doesn't look great.

Over on the Wiki, the same comments about whitespace and margin sizes apply, and it looks a lot messier now it's incorporated into the main site- the 'stand alone' version we used to have looked much better. A lot of formatting has been destroyed, pages are missing left, right and centre (and dead links are no longer red, so there's no easy way to tell what's there and what's not). The ability to add images is apparently lost, as is the ability to edit on a section-by-section basis. Given the amount of time I've spent trying to clean up the Wiki over the years, I'm not remotely impressed by the change. I hope improvements can be made.

Let's get the logic working properly first and then work on preferences like colours later. Much of what you've said has already been said and/or in the WIki page. I am trying.

The hosting section of the forum is mostly made redundant by the "Games" section at the top of the website. IP addresses on that can only be seen when logged in.

(Beside the point I don't know what peoples obsession with hiding there IP addresses is, if you're on the internet someone can find it!)

A few forum issue I've discovered that aren't yet in the Wiki:

No way of clicking straight to the newest posts

The only way to get to the last page of a thread is to open the thread and click to the last page

No 'mark all read' option.

That aside I like the new design, much more modern!

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Wasnt happy having to change my password - hate having to think of a new password.

When I changed my password and clicked Log in it went to the same screen again and asked me to do it again. I went through the stage twice beforeI could get in
You (and everyone else on the internet) should not be generating your own passwords, you should look into one of the many password managers available that will generate and store them securely for you (and some even provide synchronisation between machines and phones / tablets. It takes a little while to set up but then once you've got it going you're far more secure than the average Joe.

What are the security implications of generating for yourself a unique password only used on SimSig?
