As discussed in the 'Mega Wish list' thread, the remaining boxes on the Preston- Blackpool line are closing tonight, with control going to Ashburys ROC when the line reopens in January (to Blackpool South) and late March (to Blackpool North).

Salwick

Kirkham North Jn

Poulton No.3; the line to Fleetwood diverged right. The pointwork remained in place until the last year or so.

Thanks for posting these, I'm going miss looking at Poulton No.3 each time I venture on my journeys to and from work. I passed Carleton Crossing earlier on the way to work (now on break).. around 7.30pm and me and the bobby exchanged a wave to one another, he's going to miss Carleton Crossing as it's his favourite box plus once in a while he's let me visit. :-).

Assuming he's the same one who was on duty at around 15:00, he was very helpful gesturing which way the trains were coming (I took plenty of train-passing-box shots at Carleton as well). A group of Network Rail bods arrived as well while I was there; they'd moved on to Poulton when I was passing on the train later. Do you work on the railway, by the way?

I also noticed that all the box nameboards have been taken down already; does anyone know when or why?

I would imagine that the signallers themselves would have had the box name boards. That's what usually happens. They've been ear-marked by some one in the heirarchy sometime back. Things like that are the first things to go followed shortly afterwards by the track circuit diagrams in the box. You'd probably end up paying quite a bit for one just like loco nameplates.

Today 9th February 2018 I've gone out to have a look at progress between Blackpool North and Kirkham North Jn well mainly to just outside of Kirkham.
Blackpool North is progressing at a fast rate platforms have taken shape pretty well since I last went there and the first few gantry posts for the OHLE have been install near Platform 1/2. Finally managed to get a visit back on my depot Blackpool North LMD where I work and that's near completion ready for the electrics to arrive.
Layton that brief station outside of Blackpool North has progressed with more new gantry posts installed, 2 brand new shelters installed also.
Poulton is slowly coming around after a short no action period the signal box Poulton No.3 is expected down Monday 19th February in 3 day stages with removal of roof first as there is a possibility of asbestos. The two days after will focus on the rest of the pull down. Platforms 1/2 are getting a little makeover with new platform edging, embankment of trees and brambles have been removed also. The 1st gantry post has been installed out opposite the signal box.
Singals in places are starting to appear too.

Today 9th February 2018
From the engineering notice, the trains are required for drainage work at Poulton. New materials in and non-hazardous materials out. The current trains in the area located by your truly.

66413 Poulton Station Area Platform 1
66415 Poulton Station Area Near Signal Box
66416 Poulton Station Area Platform 1
66542 Carleton Crossing Area
66558 Carleton Crossing Area
66571 Poulton Station Area Near Signal Box
66957 Carleton Crossing Area

So everything is cracking at a fair rate and is scheduled for an ontime opening Monday 26th March 2018 although ECS workings are likely into Blackpool North LMD on Sunday 25th March.

That missing info that I thought was ARS was actually Hitachi's SA-RS, Signaller Assistant Route Setting, Think Karl was trying to remember it a couple months ago in another post.

Anyway Fylde Lines Update.
Proposed opening should of been Monday 26 March this has been set back to Monday 16 April 2018 due to weather and equipment issues.
Blackpool North Platforms have been completed. Overhead stanchions have been slowly been put into place over last weekend (24/03). The first bit of cabling has been put up in Platform 1 also, Blackpool North LMD has finally had all its wires in place and is looking shiny and grand.

Layton Station few more stanchions have been put in place under Crossley's Road Bridge apart that its all wired with another new signal in place.

Carleton Crossing is all complete with working CCTV and wires in place too just outside of Poulton.

Poulton Station area coming along slowly platform edging has been complete and the jigsaw of putting the platform bricks back into place. The Station Roof board have also been replaced with new shorter ones. Overhead stanchions have been put on across from Platform 1 (Blackpool Direction), Platform 2 has the piles in but no stanchions have been put up. Two new signals are in place also one under the bridge Platform 1 and a what looks to be a banner repeater on Platform 2 as the signal is slightly on a bend after bridge.

Kirkham Station & area to Holts Lane, Poulton all the wiring is now in place including Plaform 2 & 3 at Kirkham, Kirkham North Jn all the way to Holts Lane, Poulton. Platform 1 at Kirkham hasn't been wired which of course is in the plans.

Signal testing has been taking place in Blackpool North and various areas including Carleton Crossing.
I received an Electrification Notice that on Saturday 14 April at 00:01 the OHLE lines will come live at 25k. Image included.

Thats all for this update and maybe the last update until 16 April 2018 line opening at 04:40hrs.

Yours truly may well have been somewhat involved in the SA-RS code in a former life... unless it doesn't work in which case my hands are clean :D

That picture you posted looks like the simulator, not the real thing. I can see what looks like the train movement simulator (TMS) which I also, cough, led.

I'm not sure about that photo, it certainly doesn't look like the Blackpool desk in the ROC. But on the other hand it's definitely not the simulator workstation room as that has a solid wall behind the monitors. It might possibly be the instructors desk mind.

The image claims its the 'Blackpool Panel from Manchester ROC' provided by GNRP Twitter Page. (https://twitter.com/TheGNRP), I wouldn't know if it was the real thing or the simulator. I've yet to have a date decided on my visit to the ROC itself for a nosy, which I probably put off anyway due to other things.

I can't speak for Manchester but generally the requirement was for the trainee's workstation to be in a separate room to the trainer.

Yeah the instructor room in Manchester ROC has a nice glass window to look onto the trainee.

I just had a reply from one of the engineers that installs simulators. He thinks it is indeed the TREsim simulator, though why it has a trackerball is curious.

Another little update.
North Fylde Lines was handed back to the signallers and the line was opened at 10:20 (13-04) yesterday morning. Northern are now training up drivers since the upgrade of the railway. From 16th to 20th April there will be two trains per hour, one from Blackpool North to Manchester Airport and the Manchester Airport to Blackpool North return. This is also to allow more drivers to be trained on the route between them dates. A more normal service will resume from 20th April.
Yesterday I was in Kirkham & Wesham filming a couple of the training runs managed to get a few pictures. Poulton there isn't any access to the platforms hence why I went to Kirkham. Couple of Pictures from Kirkham also.

Our Watford Simulator is in the same room as the trainee. No boards no separation, with Trackerball
