Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've always wondered about why the symbol for a position light signal used on IECC workstations (which is obviously the symbol that SimSig's is modelled on) is, as far as I can make out, mirrored. I mean, the white lights in a position light signal are top centre-left and bottom right, with the slope from left to right. Why does the shunt signal symbol slope the other way? To me it's always seemed notably backwards.

IECC/SimSig use a quarter circle. If you look at http://www.fourbythree.co.uk/library/large/sig/SIGNAL-7.JPG (old style) and imagine the white light is the axle, and the red light marks the 9 o'clock position, then drawing an arc from the red clockwise around the white pivot light, at the 45 degree angle (10:30?) you get to the second white light. Continue the arc to 12 o'clock and you have your quarter circle. Does that make sense?

Yes it does make sense, thanks a lot :)

To me, it still looks wrong But I can certainly understand what you've said

You're not the first to say that, and you won't be the last!
